I started hanging out with a guy from work, he had always worked on 'the other side of the plant' in the Case line, I work in Blade line...the place is big, there are lots of guys in there you never meet because of different shifts or whatnot. He got rotated to my side of the plant, and we started hanging out some.
Anyway, he used to race BFG series, has a bad azz Chevelle, restores cars and has a machine shop at home. Our conversations revolve around cars and trucks and all that good stuff.
By some very strange co-incidence....he is not restoring a muscle car right now, he's doing a 50 International pickup for another guy at work. So a great opportunity to look at the cab and see what I'll get into. This kinda gave me some confidence in buying the COE, i stopped in to look at what he had on the go before heading to Truro to buy the COE.
First - the Chevelle....its kinda resto-mod with painted bumpers and trim, rear discs, modern seats, and a giagantic big block.....DE-tuned to 500Hp. It used to be in Pat Neale's rail dragster, and thought to originally have been machined by Rue's shop.
The only sticker on the whole damn car. Some good real estate there.
Here are the cab pics.....we have figured out the cab should be almost exactly the same. the COE stuff, being low production, were special items added to this cab. the International L series of trucks were modular from this 1/2 ton L-110, up to my big-ass 3 ton L-180. mine is the biggest of the L series.
modular floor, unbolts. Mine will be a lot different, for the doghouse.
I get to borrow this rolling jig. Sweet. What are the odds?
grill is in hard shape
I thought I was going to have a goldmine of spare parts for the rig I was going to buy.....nope, I bought a way bigger truck.
They aren't using this chassis.
And here are some machine shop pics
Yup, a great resource to have. Devin is down for odd jobs on the machine tools, get in touch with me for contact info.
Later today, we'll be meeting up for the Green Goblin carshow in Canning, then he'll be running the Chevelle down at Greenfield Drag Races on Sunday. Should be a fun weekend!!
