I could post pics cause I took some but if your queezy, I'm not responsible.. lol
had a fight with a grinder with cutting wheel.. can you guess who won? 8o)
was making a cut with the 7" grinder cutting wheel with the guard off ( ya I know).. do it a million times over without issue, but it only takes once.. guard wouldnt fit where I was trying to cut.. blade caught and kicked back at me and hit me in the forearm. cut the main flexor tendon for my wrist, pinky and ring finger, 1 of the arteries and the main nerve(funny bone) and nicked the bone.. excuse my technical terms.. lol..
It could of been much worse, hope I regain the feeling in my 2 fingers and the palm of my hand, but am positive I will (its healing well so far)..
So Notes of wisdom.. ALWAYS keep your guards on.. it wont stop an accident from happpening, but will definately lower the chances.. Even if youve done it a million times(I know I have used my grinders without guards tons without incident), it only takes one time.. I'll most likley have some permanent damage, but it could of been MUCH worse, so I am greatful..
Be safe, happy building..

Wow Reg that sounds like a pretty serious injury. I hope you have a full recovery and aren't in too much pain. Jeff wanted to buy one of those grinders but he's so accident-prone, I put the kibosh to that. Your links didn't work btw. Cindy

updated and fixed them tks cindy..
I'm always working alone in the garage till 2 - 3AM and this has been a fear of my wifes forever.. this accident I was able to manage, lost alot of blood, but knew what to do as soon as it happened.. but if a truck fell on me, or I lost conciousness, I'd be screwed..

Nice pictures. Did Cindy take them? ;D Seriously though . Nasty! I've had the grinder guard argument with so many folks its not funny. I rarely take mine off. I usually try and find a different way to get the job done. Seen way too many incidents for my liking. Hope all heals up good and fast and you get back to your shop.

Wow! I can't beat that.I do have a similar cut to my arm happened a month ago with may 4.5 mini grinder with guard on.Cutting square tubing when it kicked back out of my hands and stuck me in the arm.6 stitches later.I now have no feeling between the cut and my wrist and doc said it may never come back.Use my grinder all the time and have since this happened but hold onto tighter for sure.We get too comfortable with them after awhile and forget the dangers....

I'm very happy to say I have never had that happen to me. if I can't fit into a spot with my 4.5" or 5" grinder, I use my 3" die grinder, it works slower, but I can hold it a lot tighter, and it has a whole lot less oomph if the worst is to happen.... I hope your recovery goes swiftly Reg.

I hope you don't have any permanent injuries which affect your motor control skills.
Don't flake off on the physio. The tasks will look and seems stupid, and take a long time, until you don't heal properly and have a bum finger.
