I got a call about a week ago from a dear old friend. He is in the need for a 4x4 build and asked if I wanted to help, so I said sure. I asked him what he was looking for and he said something big, you know 40" tires on 1 tonne axles, lots of power the whole 9 yards. My reply was holy shit I'm in when do we start. His reply was as soon as I can take him to a junk yard to get the parts he had found. ;D ;D
The next weekend I picked him up and off we went on a road-trip.
Well we drove for 3 hrs and came upon the junk yard, man this was the worse place I had seen, run down house with tarpaulin's on the roof, tonnes of old beaters sitting on the front lawn half stripped of the parts. I said with great remorse you sure this is the place? He said it was and the guy told him to drive out back toward the garage. Well let me tell you the garage was worse than the house, the roof looked like it caved it 15 yrs ago and even had a hole it it. .
Then to make matters worse the owner came out to meet us, I have no Idea where this dude was from but he looked like one of them dudes from Halo ugly sob. I asked Woody, what the frig he was getting himself and I into. He just laughed and said he's alright and to relax.
Here is Woodie buying the stock pile of parts:
He did own a cool looking rig though
We got the parts home and started to sort things out.
Here is Woodie checking out the condition of the frame:
Lookin good for Woodie:
Little did I know Woodie asked the Junk yard dude to help as well.
Here is the 2 leveling the frame:
This dude is a slave driver, he kept us busy and wouldn't allow us to take a break.
Here they are measuring for the links:
The Front:
The Rear:
This is where I want the thing to sit, lots of clearance:
Woody preparing the frame for welding on the shock hoops and suspension link tabs:
Woody welding the shock hoops:
Goober (thats what I called him) welding on the frame too,
He wouldn't ware a helmet. He said his eyes were self darkening.
By this time Woody and myself were getting pretty tired and wanted to quit for the day (3:15am) but Goober wouldn't have it so on to the diff preparation.
Removing old mounts off the diff:
Grinding and cutting:
Welding on the link and shock tabs:
Welding on the supports and mounts for the steering servo:
Goober you put that mount on backward, leave it to me to do the Fabe work would you.
Tempers flaring with lack of sleep.
Woody grinding off the tabs:
Welding them on the right way:
Hold that right there and don't move it:
Finally getting the steering on:
Woody couldn't take it and had to take a nap:
Goober woke Woody up and they got started on installing the links and shocks to the diffs.
The rear done:
Hurry the hell up and tighten the dam thing Woody:
Welding on some more link tabs:
Finish welding the lower link mounts:
Woody welding some more, he's getting to be an expert welder.
Time to fit the new sneakers.
Are they too big? , Goober says
No frigging way, I'm thinking they are a bit small. says Woody
GROOM VROOM VROOM EEEERRRRRRRCCCCCHHH.
Lack of sleep maybe.
Woody out again:
Time to fit the motor, yes motor all electric here guys. Woody is very environmental and no fossil fueled powered gazz guzzler for him.

Woody: The instruction say the red wire to the red wire, the blue wire to the black wire, the green wire to the yellow wire:
Time for the front drive shaft:
Goober pass me the rear shaft please:
