I've been planning on doing this for a few years, and now that my '69 AMX needs brake work I'm finally doing it. I used the bolt on caliper brackets from an 88 MJ, 95 rotors (car has the same bolt pattern), and made brackets to that go on the 4 bolts holding on the spindle, between it and the knuckle. Rotors fit prefect on the hubs. I'm using XJ flex lines, 90 XJ master, and have a XJ proportioning valve if I need it. I'll get pics of the brackets once I finish them up. (move this if you don't want it here Jan)

The caliper brackets have "AMC" on them. Great thing about using the Jeep parts is that all of it only cost about $100!

Neat. So the MJ bolt-on caliper bracket bolts to an adapter that goes to the spindle bolts?
What was there before? floating rotors? odd for an old car. usually pressed studs.

Backing plate for drum brakes was there before, though on the outside of the spindle (front track width will be 3/4 wider now). Old drums were a press fit on the hubs.

That's pretty cool. $100 discs for an AMX, sweet! You just make that up or see it on a forum?
Going to swap masters? Was it power brakes? Adding that too?

I just made it up. I think it's cool that other than the brackets I made, it's still all AMC!
I used a '90 XJ master, just had to widen the mounting hole distance and it bolted right on the booster. Didn't even have to adjust the length of the rod.

Ya, you get a lot of satisfaction just wingin' it! The AMC aspect is neat.

I've had it for a couple drives, brakes work great. Had it over to JP for a polish, replaced the points with a Pertronics Ignitor, and today a new Holly carb. All ready to head to the Atlantic Nationals on Friday.
JP will post some pics when he gets time.
