Hey guys/gals, it's been a while! wondering if anyone near me has any experience installing front axle seals on a JK, I hear it's a little more complicated than it should be and dont really want to find out the hard way that I cant do it! Steve

It's not really all that complicated at all, same process as changing axle seals on anything else. What part are you worried about? I did mine last month and it wasn't all that difficult.
The absolute most important part, I would say, is make sure you pay attention to where the shims go on either side of your carrier when you take it out. When you lay the carrier on the bench, put the shims for the corresponding side next to it. It would be BAD to mix those up. Other than that...if you've tore into any other front diff before, you won't have any problems doing this. Even if you haven't...it's pretty straight forward.

Very helpful to have a friend for that. Find a socket that is only slightly smaller than the diameter of the axle seal. Round up enough extensions so they stick out the outer end of the axle tube when hitched up to the socket and hovering over the new seal. Get your friend to tap on the extensions while you center the socket over the new seal and it gets tapped into place. This is a surefire way to make sure your seal goes in straight and doesn't get all cockeyed. Then do the same for the other side.

No problem. Make sure you use your least favourite / cheapest extension as the outermost one that your pounding on with a hammer, since it's going to flatten it out some and you'll probably never get the male end into it again after that. LOL
Good luck!
