Well its time to get crack'in on the ole buggy again. So I managed to get the engine painted. Removed the T-Case and installed my super short slip yoke eliminator. the T-Case was also in really good shape for the miles and age of it. (Bonus) The engine was a bit HO-HUM being just black so I added some color to it. That's better.

Looks great man, the paint is poppin!
I was 'holy frig!' at the length of the drivetrain. There is 18" (?) of stuff there I wasn't expecting to see....I'm working on my little CJ7, its the same trans case but nothing behind the pan, is that an overdrive? Plus the long adapter...you have tons of room to squeeze in a doubler if you ever want to.

The engine trans t-case combo on a Dakota/ full-size pickup is approx. 5" longer than a grand Cherokee combo. But this combo is what I have to work with. I had to use a super short SYE kit to shortin this 7". It puts my output shaft joint inline with the lower link mounts, In hindsight I would just find a old 3 speed trany t-case combo then I would be able to do a doubler. but for now I will find a deep set of diff gears in the 6 something ratio and work with that.

Got my fuel lines and trany lines all plumbed up, so I moved on to the rear section and installed the floor, side panels, seat, and seat belts. so the rear section is all done except the fuel tank and pump. engine and trans and t-cade sitting in place. All bolted up. Front view of the rear section. Rear seat is out of a tracker and it folds down. And it folds up out of the way for storage for maybe camping gear for an overnight wheeling/camping trip. Just needs my fuel tank and pump and the rear is complete. Now move onto the front interior and wireing and then back to the engine bay.
