I do a fair bit of cutting and grinding. When doing so I wear a respirator, but find that a fine cloud of dust would linger for hours after I was done. I'd want to remove my mask, but would end up breathing crap... rust is the worst! My neighbor does a fair bit of painting and showed me this little setup so I decided to try it. $30 box fan from Crappy Tire & Freebie furnace filter from work (had I wanted to spring the $10, I could have got the exact size filter for the fan) a little clear tape as I couldn't find my tuck tape and after a half hour of cutting/ grinding I'd call that a win.

I really like that...... I was coughing for a few days after grinding the paint and rust off of my front d44... I have one of those fans in the barn for circulating air from the wood stove, so I'm already half-way there to having clean air again...

I build one for the wood shop at work, just build a plywood box around it you can put 3 filter and suspend it from the ceiling to be more effective.

I slapped one of these together on the weekend while I as coughing from the smoke and dust. grabbed a coarse and a fine particulate filter, and tied them onto the fan. What a difference, and so easy. Shoulda been doing this years ago....

Scott and I were gringing on two bumpers for an hour or so last night and I had never realized how much stuff there was in the air until we opened the door and stepped outside. It was quite the cloud.
