Hey Everyone,
My dad recently got into jeeps and bought a '13 sahara and now I'm jealous and decided i will get one too.. i am buying a jeep this week and was wondering if there are any trails around halifax (I'm in hammonds plains) that are not too crazy (that i could travel on alone without worrying about getting too stuck) and are not illegal to use.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum There are plenty of trails to head out on in HRM, but you may want to rethink the going alone part. You never know what can happen offroad and having backup always beats a long walk out. Your best bet to learn some trails and about wheeling in general is to join in on a club Ru , which coincidently is happening on Sunday, meeting at APJ Automotive, on Cobequid Road in Sackville @10am.

Im not looking for a deep woods technical trail.. just something nice and easy.. I ended up buying a stock 2000 TJ today so now I'm on the hunt for some tires, winch, f. bumper, lift..

Welcome to the forum. The Bowater trails off the 103 sound up your alley. Very easy dirt roads with cell coverage on most of it.

I do a lot of four wheeling in bowater. I live on Pockwock and Bowater is basically in my back yard. I have a little access gate here i have permission to use to get there but my jeep will never fit through. I know a lot of people go there off of the 103 but i have no idea where the entry point is.

Thousands of KM of roadways to explore back on the old Bo Water lands, and it is easy to get lost. I wouldn't depend on your cell phone working back here because most times it wont work just like the sign says when you first enter. That is one of the things we like about camping back here, no cell phone = nice quite weekend. lol Would be good to have a GPS AND a compass if you were going to try the deeper, off the beaten path trails. Closest place to get access is off the 103 at the bottom of the hill just after leaving Tantallon.

I don't mean to cross post, but seeing that this thread is about a new Jeeper:
I was wondering if any the Halifax Chapter would be offering a Jeep 101 in the near future, or in the Fall? I'd be willing to pay a fee for a day to learn the ropes - I'm sure there would be many others in the Jeep family who would be interested. It might be a way to get people out who are hesitant to hit the full trails with the club before some tips and guidance from the pros.
Any chance of making something like this happen? Understandably it's people's time and effort, but I'm sure it would be worth the effort.

Also Jeep coffee night is Wednesday evening at the Tim's at Bedford Commons. Great people who can fill you in on the club and Jeep club runs. Enjoy

Could the admin of the Facebook page run a poll to gauge interest? I'll be sure to pop out some night to Tim's. I'm usually busy on Wednesdays, but I can always try to reshuffle things!
