Hey guys,
Planning out my hopefully summer build project for my 2014 JK sport... I want to reinforce my axles, regear and add lockers. So far I have this
* axle trusses and c gussets for front and rear * 4.88 ring and pinion for d30&d44, plus master overhaul kits * detroit trutrac for dana44 year * eaton e-locker, wiring, switches for d30 front *diff fluids
The jeep only has 16,000km on it so I figure I will run the OEM ball joints into the ground then upgrade when they're shot...
i have stock 3.21 gearing right now... how do I know if I need new carriers for the 4.88s? or is that not required with the lockers?
Anything else you think I'm missing?
Thanks

I am pretty sure you would need new carriers for both axles. I know the break for my TJ is 3.55 down and 3.73up. Not sure on JK but that much difference you can almost count on it.

You will need new carriers. 4.88s with 33"? or 35s

Could just get the super 30 pack with the e-locker. Then you could just use your stock shaft, as a trail spare. I dont have much trust in locked dana 30s but I beat down pretty hard.

I don't think I want to change my shaft spline, after doing a bit of reading I'm thinking 4.88's is too low for 35s and the 3.6l I'm thinking 4.56 may be better

I guess 37s out of the question with the dana 30 later on. www.wranglerforum.com/f274/jk-gear-ratio-chart-134061.html

Your full case lockers replace the stock carriers , go 4.56 , 4.88 is too small for the d 30

I'm running 4.88 with 35" tires on a d30. It is a fun setup for crawling but you have to pamper it also if you start spinning them tires. I already blew the front d30 once from not waiting to be recovered. It just didn't seem to like the ice, water, mud combination at 3500 RPM. Granted, that is what I stuck back in it again, and eased up on the skinny pedal. I looked on many JK forums and 4.88 were listed as max on a d30. If I was to rebuild the front and back again though 4.56 would be my choice of gearing and I would probably still watch the skinny pedal.

Nevermind. I wasn't familiar with how the truetrac operated compared to other "auto" lockers. Carry on my wayward son.
