Other than the kit that you cut and tap the output shaft are there any makers of SYE kits to stay away from for the NP231? I am not looking at the super short ones as I am not lifting my TJ much but I have a spare T-Case and thought I would be good to put a SYE kit on it as it is out of the Jeep now and when I do my lift I will have it ready.

Its less work to install it in the jeep , as it is on a bunch . id recommend the super short

Any kit that replaces the main shaft and tail housing is good, and yes, easy to do in the Jeep. I don't know why instructions say you must remove it from Jeep.
