A quick internet search puts the JK WMS width at about 65+ inches. Older trucks for the 70's and 80's had front axle widths around 67 inches, give or take, depending on model. But, I don't know of any of them that are 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern. They are all 5x5.5, 6x5.5, or 8x6.5, so you would need new rims. But, a lot of the Dana axle stuff is interchangeable so you can mix and match to get the parts you need.
A Ford Dana 44 with driver's side drop and adapters on your rear axle to change from 5x5 to your new pattern, and you are all set, assuming you have a Dana 44 in the rear you are keeping. This would bring the rear width out to match the front. Otherwise, swap in front and rear from the same vehicle. Just need a full control arm bracket set from TMR to weld on the axles.
And the newer Dodge 3/4 tons and 1 tons are driver's side drop as well. The Ford 3/4 and 1 Tons are all driver's drop.
Much simpler than a custom front axle.

Its not that easy with the jk's , sensors on all 4 corners of the jeep Could you swap in front and rear dodge axles and use the dodge sensors wired into the JK wiring? They are both Dodge products.

I dont get paying so much to get rid of the 30 for a 44. What do you want to run 37s? Seems like a alot for the inch gain. Money towards tons only makes sense to me.

Hmm... RCVs? Cheap and easy compared to building a custom axle.

Hmm... RCVs? Cheap and easy compared to building a custom axle. I agree... Sleeve, truss, gussets and RCVs would be plenty strong.

I have been doing a ton of research on the benefits of upgrading a 30 vs buying a 44 and the general consensus is no matter how much you reinforce the 30 your ring and pinion is still going to be the weakest link especially considering I want to go with 4.88s... For about 6grand taxes in I can get a g2 Dana 44 that is already reinforced, chromoly axle shafts, synergy ball joints, 4.88 gears installed and ARB locker. Doesn't make sense spending 4grand on a mopar 44 that still has weak sleeves, c's and 4.10 gears id have to get redone

Call Tracy at Peck's. We can build you a very strong 44 housing for a lot less than anything else you can find, and then you can put whatever you want in it for gears, locker, and axles.
