i am looking for a Ax15 to swap into my YJ. i think i have found a whole XJ as a donor. it is a 99. but now i am thing that the fuel injected 4.0 will bring the old girl to life. i know the fuel tanks wont work, different shape, but how much work to drop that into my YJ? the whole drive line engine trans tcase and wire it to work.
thanks for any help on this.

The t-case shifter wont work. Yj uses a bolt holt on the trans as the main point of support. Xjs dont have the hole, or a spot to drill it.
Thats as much help as i can be

Really? I was looking over specs and I found the AX-15 listed for both models in that year range. Odd to make 2 entirely different units with the same part number isn't it?
Is it possible the alternate transmission is missing said hole? I notice the Cherokee had the NV-3550 for 00 and 01 and the YJ lists a BA - 10/5 from 87-89. Outside those years, both models list the AX-15 by Aisin mated to the I6.
In either case, it sounds like you might want to confirm all holes, linkages and such are where they need to be, lol.

i have an ax15 here, picked it up to do an internal to external slave conversion on a 90 yj. I believe it was out of a 97 tj. Anyway, if it's of any use to you come and get it. Includes tranny, bell housing (good only for internal slave), and master cylinder. PM me if interested, I live out in foxbrook

Tjs also dont have that bolt hole. It was YJ specific.
Edit: maybe that isnt true, now that i think of it, i may have a tj trans in my YJ.

what do you mean by orientation? T case is clocked differently from the XJ vs TJ/YJ . You can swap out the tail adapter from XJ to TJ/YJ tho

BA10 is a completely different trans from AX15, can't swap anything between the 2.
And yes Dan, you have a trans from a TJ in your YJ.
