Hey Y'all, I know this was asked before but... Best paint / primer combo to actually stick to chrome? (rims) I used rattle cans with an etching primer last year, scuffed it with steel wool and wire wheel, cleaned it all with reducer Already this year the stuff is falling off. Did my bumpers with the same stuff and RUST! I have to do them all over again. What are some of the good products out there?
thanks.

PlastiDip works great on all surfaces. I've had my chrome rims dipped for over a year now and it has held up great. All I did was clean them and spray them. www.dipit.ca/ about $13 a can when you factor in shipping. I used 6 cans to do 4 20" wheels inside and outside, if you just need to do the face, 4 will do almost any size wheel. Tip: The more coats you put on the better

Thanks, Brandon, I heard of that stuff but don't know much about it. This will be helpful. Price is comparable to rattle cans too! ...and Canadian!

If you know anyone going to the US in the next little while see if they'll grab you a few a half dozen cans, it's $6-$8 a cab

Something to think about... 4 cans, 40 bucks + 25.00 shipping... plus tax. 75.00 to order it. (anyone going to the states?) I just learned of a spray (rattle can) that acts as a base to go over chrome before the primer and paint. (If you're buying paint anyway, like I am...) Forget what it's called- I'll post when I find out- going to NAPA tomorrow if my parts come in

Powder coat! You'll chase it every year (or every other year) if you choose another method on steel.

Thanks for all the input, guys! I would like to powder coat but the tires have to stay on for now and since I sold my truck my Jeep is a D/D so it can't be laid up. (At least till I get something else)
