Looks like I got a blown axle seal. What do you guys use to knock the seals out and press them back in? I don't really have any long rods or anything. Also if anyone in HRM has something I could borrow that would be great

You can knock the old one out pretty easy with a wooden broomstick handle (squared off so it had a flat edge) poked in through the axle tube. For installing new one, the easiest way I know of to get them in straight is using a big socket slightly smaller than the seal, with a bunch of socket extensions all stuck together and poking out through the far side of the housing, and tapping on that.

I used a broom handle to take them out and a socket with extensions to put them in. Just make sure they're lined up before you start tapping them in, they tend to shift slightly when you aren't looking lol.

Seals are seals , why would you think the air locker caused the leak ? It wouldn't

No clue, just find it odd I had a noticeable leak over the long weekend while it sat... topped her up and now nothing for a few days.

Gonna have change one of you guys from Ben to something else. LOL You just had your housings apart to do gears and lockers, right? I wonder if the lip of the seal was just folded over a tad when you stuck the axles back in? And it fixed itself. I have had mine leak fairly bad for a couple of weeks after I had my axles out and the 'do nothing about it' approach actually worked - the leak stopped on it's own. Regardless, when it stops on it's own, you do not question such good fortune. Let it be.

I was having a terrible time trying to get my locker out... there's a lot of preload required on the ARB lockers and no matter how much I pryed on the damn thing it wouldn't budge. So I went to google and found a nifty trick (I'm sure some of you have used). Stuff some rags against the pinion/ring gear and turn the drive shaft... she popped right out.

Bought 3 seals ($25 a pop) so I'd have one as a spare... ended up ruining two brand new seals trying to get them in!!! I got the hang of it on the third one but now I need to buy another seal. Expensive learning process but now i know how to do it
