I have an 05 TJ with a steering box that's starting to leak, what's the best option for replacing or rebuilding ? Does Luc still do them? Napa replacement is 350 ish

Looks easy enough... Definately worth the effort.

Is it just me. I have did 3 or 4 Durango box sawps on tj.
But it just does for some reason, it makes the steering feel so very very heavy. So much so I'm thinking very hard about swapping back to stock. when I get into a jeep with the same tires and stuff as my jeep, there's with the stock box it's so so light feeling Or when they drive my they say it before they drive it 25 feet

So much so I'm thinking very hard about swapping back to stock. when I get into a jeep with the same tires and stuff as my jeep, there's with the stock box it's so so light feeling Or when they drive my they say it before they drive it 25 feet I put one of the PSC Saginaw boxes on my 04, and I found the same thing. There is a lot more steering effort required, and the box does not seem as powerful as the Mercedes box. There is more road feel / feedback though, which I prefer, as the Mercedes box feels numb. I am suspecting that the saginaw box needs more flow or more pressure, and I was going to switch to a bigger pump, but have not had time to do it. I would suggest putting a pump off a TJ with a saginaw box to try it, unless someone here knows for sure they are the same pump. By the way, I don't think the PSC box is worth the $600 I paid for it. To make it fit my TJ, they cut one of the cast mounting tabs off and tig welded a new tab on in the correct spot for my jeep. There is a good chance the welding will have distorted the bore inside and allow the box to bypass internally a tiny bit. They claimed it was bolt on, but I had to cut the corner off the new tab to clear the front crossmember. It is just an old rebuilt saginaw box that I have had to adjust twice now to take the play out of the box. On the plus side, it does not leak like the Mercedes box did.

I've done the hole relocation on the frame 3 times. It's easy to do. I plasma out an oval around the sleeve, pull it out, turn it so it lines up with new box, bolt in the box and tack it in place.
With the same pump and 2001-2002 lines the handling and feel was good. Jeep or Durango box.
