Hey Everyone, I think it's time. Have any of you CJ guys done the conversion to a Hydraulic clutch? Mine is a 1985 CJ7 with a T-18 and an AMC 360. The linkage seemed cockeyed (hard shifting too) and when I was under there I noticed the motor mounts were shot. I was hoping the linkage would fix itself after replacing the motor mounts but no luck. So... Pros and cons? I can take a chance and try new linkage- there are a couple kits on Amazon Or... I read that I will need to find YJ pedals. Do I have to change the Clutch fork too? Does the Slave cyl bolt right up? Anything else I need to consider? Do any of you have one that was changed over that I can look at? Thanks

My Jeep is not a CJ, I made my own setup on the transmission, made a bracket that's bolted on the bellhousing to mount a CJ 4 cyl push slave. My Jeep did come with a master cylinder mounted to the pedal, it's from an S10. They had the shaft coming in on an angle that works well. The pedal setup looks a lot like the picture in post 17 here. www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?367183-hydraulic-clutchIt's not difficult to home brew something but it takes time to fine tune. Pedals from a 4 cyl CJ would work but probably not many around. I'm guessing your present setup uses a bell crank, you can make them better by replacing parts but they may not work if you're off road and twisted up. Back in the day my '79 CJ had a cable operated clutch, worked fine until the cable snapped.
