Late model 3.8 or early model 3.6?

Hey Nerds!

Been awhile, I'm back in the market for a Wrangler. I don't do facebook even though I'm sure I'd get a response immediately there.. Here is my dilemma:

My budget. It puts me in the the range of a low km 3.8L wrangler (100,000kms) last model year 2011. OR a high mileage (200K plus) 3.6L 2012.

Everyone knows the first year for anything is the worst year but everyone also knows the 3.8 wasn't too thrilling of an engine.. or maybe I am wrong?

Give me your thoughts.. might see you out again look for the guy with the DC2's and tire shine.

When Tara smashed the WJ Overland on the way home from Jam this year, figuring it was going to be a write-off, I started searching for a JKU for a decent price... Couldn't find anything for a price I was willing to pay... and anything that was decently priced (whether newer or older...) were all manuals, which is no good for Tara seeing it would be her daily. We ended up going with a 2018 Compass Trailhawk. and then within a week it seemed there were a ton of decently priced auto JKUS, lol! Good luck in your search. It would be awesome to see you back in a Jeep!
I would go with a 3.6 if you can, more power and better mileage than the 3.8. Although, I have seen how much a 3.8 manual with 3.21 gears woke right up with a superchips programmer...

knew there'd be some tumbleweeds in here! lol Still on the hunt. Sticking hard to my budget but it's getting increasingly harder to do!

I seem to be hearing that if the 3.8 has lower gears ( super rare 4:10 ) it’s not to bad
Seen a few with over 300 kms
