On behalf of the whole Montgomery Trail Rescue (MTR)Team, I would like to say that we are there even if Mr. Mongomery is stuck... we will multi-task as the need arises. ;D

I personally am in with the EMO initiative. As far as I am concerned you can say you are from the NSJC. We will of course run the final approval through the proper channels. All are aware that the participation in this initiative is COMPLETELY voluntary. I don't see any reason why the NSJC would not be supportive of this. Duane, you rock ! I would ask that you would copy me on any correspondence that you would have so as to establish a record of what we are doing. Thanks len - I was hoping to have you on board! I will make sure you and the Exec are kept up to date so we can keep proper records.

Duane, you should join SAR. Our members have been called out for this sort of thing and I think it is cool. Unfortunatley I didn't get to go out in White Jaun though due to BTS (busted truck syndrome). What's the deal with the Hummer and $1000? I never heard anything about that. I may consider joining SAR when this is up and running. ...as for the H2 & $1000 - here's the basics as I know them - now confirmed by a third party, no less... A fellow here in Metro had an H2 and felt he could safely get around during White Juan, being as he has an unstoppable rig, right? Well, long story short has it he contacted a hospital or two offering to get staff & supplies in and out...at a cost. In the end, the bill was $1,000 for his "services". This pissed me off enough that we find ourselves here today - didn't just wrankle me, but a lot of folks. I say we can do it better, safer and simply to support our communities and generate goodwill for the NSJC. Want to give us money, well, since we're a non-profit org, I say they just donate it to a charity of the Club's choice in the name of the NSJC - double hit for us, helpful for everyone...and we're all out a little gas, but we'd have been out playing anyway...LOL

Well, as of 7:00 AM today, we've got 14 Jeepers on the books as volunteers.
My plan includes compiling a list of those involved with the S.W.A.T. team - Stormy Weather Access Team.
You'll all get a bunch more info as I plan on getting details of the plan in place on my vacation next week - I won't have e-mail/Internet though, so it'll be the following week before I get info posted and out to folks. I'll make sure to keep the Exec looped too, for any feedback that can be offered.
...all supposing that EMO actually signs on the the hospitals want the help - but I'm confident we will be well received.

Not to get off topic here but that guy with the Hummer is a little puke. We had to save his a$$ last winter and I'm not at all surprised he charged $1000 for his efforts.

Duane, the other thing that I meant to mention in my first post, is that getting involved in something like this will be helpful in our fight ot keep trails open. To provide a service like this to the community, it is important that the people involved are experienced and able to train regularly.

Hey guys, glad to see my friends are standing up for me! I will volunteer also, once the rig is finished...should be end of December, mid January depending on ARB and how fast they can get me a locker for the 14 bolt.

To provide a service like this to the community, it is important that the people involved are experienced and able to train regularly. WHERE THE HECK DID MY OTHER RESPONSE TO THIS GO!? Anyway - I hear ya - the community image and support is part of the reson I'm trying to move this forward. Just got an e-mail from a gent down Digby way - so we've had volunteeres from Sydney to Digby - if that's not provincial coverage, I'm not sure what is...LOL As for the traiing and skills - since most of the folks are experienced trail riders and/or trail guides from jamborees past, I'll say we're pretty well ready in that regard. I will, however, fully support anyone who wants to brush up on their skills, or those who want to learn them prior to heading out should we get called upon. I'm a HUGE fan of training - it leads to confidence and professionalism - two key elements for the success of this initiative. OK, looks like the rough count of volunteers is up to about 17 now - this is freakin' great! I'll keep everyone posted on any progress I make with EMO or the hosiptals prior to me leaving on Saturday. Thanks again for the support gang - I think this idea will be a winner!

Quick update - I just got off the phone with the gent who handles transportation planning for the Capital District Health Authority - they have facilites like the QE II and the IWK and operate places between hants County and Windsor. He's stoked about a group of folks like us offering to help when they need it most. His main concern is safety - which won't be an issue. To give you an idea of thier level of interest, we have a meeting scheduled to meet and talk logistics a few days after I return from vacation. ...and the guy used to own a '76 CJ-5 with a hardtop...it's a Jeep thing, and he understands...LOL OK, so, this is all still very preliminary, and no solid committments are in place, but I think this will move forward nicely. And the CDHA are happy to spread the word loud and clear when local groups come through for them with help when they need it - their staff get around safely, we get the positive karma from helping and our communities benefit - it's a win-win-win scenario! I'm lovin' it!

Will you be co-ordinating all areas? Would like my name on the list for the central zone.

Well, both groups have expressed an interest in having a centralized contact point for their coordinators to call into. I'm happy to take on this role to get this up and running and iron out the kinks.
My cell is on my hip 24/7, so finding me shoud be easy enough.
It'd ultimately mean me making a lot of calls when we're needed, but hey, no biggie - I can coordinate for our end - that would keep the lines of communication simple and clear when we're called upon.
I'm sure in short order I'll be asking for help in areas other than Metro, but that's what we've got to iron out yet. I'll know more after we sit down for a chin-wag about the logistics and needs at their end.
Thanks for the support Dave.

Duane, I can usually be gotten a hold of with little problems.
For the central area I can try and take care of that? I have my cell on me all the time, only place I dun have service is at home, but that number will be available too.
