I'm open to any ideas on "a better way" ... especially anything that involves saving big $$$. I'd really like to do a "go big or go home" ride so this one will sit on 38's. I'm still listening. Although they do not have the length and space you were looking for there are 2 -$20K-30K rigs for sale on this board fo $10k just a suggestion.

Bench built Ya - I hear you. This is kind of a "fantasy Football" thread at this point. I suppose it will stay this way until I find a truck. I'll take this as my first - "get on with it or get off the board" notice.

So here's what I've found so far ... #1) 2009 damaged jk Asking $12,500 Front axle bent, front suspension is toast, grill, hood and fender are crumpled, right rear is totally mangled roof is cracked, interior is soaked. I’ve offered $3k not too hopeful as seller thinks this is a ridiculous offer even though it will take $10k worth of parts + $20k of labour to put this thing back into the same shape as other used jk's. #2) 2007 Repo jk Asking $14,900 Road-worthy, interior is in rough shape Still need to get it checked over before I offer anything. The low price suggests that something is wrong. 2009 damaged jk Asking $7,500 Front pancaked, every body panel from the grill to the front doors is bent, transfer case is cracked, right rear body is banged up, roof is cracked. Offered : to set it on fire. #3) 2005 LJ Asking $14,000 Local truck, looks minty, almost too nice to take into the bush. Will try if the jk's don't work out. Is this a reasonable asking price? #4) 2005 LJ Asking $12,000 Looks in nice shape

The LJ's are right in the price range of what they go for.
I paid $14K for mine 2 years ago, had to go to northern NB to get it, and it was a few thousand less than what they were going for here.
The one with the painted flares is silver? I thought it was white in the test pic.
there is a red lady driven/not wheeled one for sale out Porters Lake way. no link, i forget where I saw the ad.

Missed this thread somehow. And Len... Moab is long over. Good times were had by all. OP - I have a 2005 LJ. Great rig - good size for the trails and not too oversized that breakover is an issue. I have front and rear lockers (selectable), 4.56's, 33's, about 4-5 inches of lift - good combination for daily driver (which it is) and overland explorer.
