So is there a number you can take to get stuff made or just the coolest first?

Well I got some people who want some stuff, the pecking order will be sorted out once the machine is running. I haven't taken any $$ from anyone, so there is no "order line-up" so to speak.
I don't start real work until the 10th, so I will be working full time on getting the table running.

table is moving under its own power.
the majority of my issue was divided between not having the latest revisions of the manuals, not being able to following vauge instructions with typo's correctly (kinda tough to install "MPDTHC1000" control software, when its called "DTHC3000" in the install discs.)
AND......the micro switch to turn the motor DC on/off is sticky, when you click it off, the button sticks, and the ON doesn't work. Days and days of wires routing, software driver installations, and general mayhem trying to get that to turn on was all because of a sticky switch. I freaked out when i found it.
so now I am back on track to have this running in a few days, i hope.
got to install a circuit board in the powermax45 now and void the warrantee. rad.

Glad to hear you found the problems. Sucks that it happened though.

the mods will be able to be unhooked, I'm just tapping into some voltages to monitor them.
I'll leave mounting the board and drilling the plasma case for the wire until I know its working.

any chance you can put a bigger strain relif on the power cord, and sneak the wires out the same hole???

I haven't posted hardly any of the build pics.....that will change now that I've got progress to report. Making a heavy duty hinge for a desktop on the table. swing-out workdesk with stainless top i got from somewhere for free. Had it kicking around, looks like it would work good, and it does. I got pretty far into the build without the kit across the border. This is how it arrived from Minnesota. power supply. converts AC to DC and supplies power to the BladeRunner control box. BladeRunner - the heart of the system. Controls motors, therefore positioning. rear showing outputs to stepper motors. unpacked kit. linear rails. extruded aluminum with hardened and ground steel inserts for the wheels. Easy to keep clean and maintain. You can see the steel guideway here. packing damage. one of the racks has broken away from the rail. had to weld it back together. manufacturer was notified, as the box was unscathed. board to install in plasma. Yikes! Z axis with digital torch height control. rear of Z axis

Look to complicated for me, but would be nice to have. The tig welds look like they didn't use any filler rod when they welded them, just fused the two together.Your fix looks good.
When do you think you'll be ready to start cutting?

When do you think you'll be ready to start cutting? Rue i'd say the same. no filler, and too short of a weld. trying to minimize distortion. as complicated as it looks, it's really rather simple. a computer, controling stepper motors. each pulse moves each motor a known degrees of revolution. this equal's a certain distance. everything on the machine is broken into a set # of steps in the right sequence.. i like the rails. the extrusion, with the steel ways is a neat idea. cost effective, but still fairly true. how about one of those silicon key boards. would stand the dust/dirt better then a regular one. and thier only $10 at pa lookin' good jan.............. the plasma that is

Might just be a few days for sparks. Really moving along now, and yes, it is rather complicated. But it just breaks down into little tasks that while numerous, aren't outside our skill sets. I had problems with the computer stuff cause it ain't my thing. You will see in the next series of pictures how i overcame some problems by using common machine and fab skills, like drilling out the stepper motors, or turning down computer connector screws on the lathe. ;D These next pics are the rail installation and setting up the gantry. Hopefully the machine makes more sense to those of you who have no idea what this thing does. Note that all brackets on this machine were cut on a Bulltear table the same as this one. Pinion relaxing on the new table. Just like the vet, only better. hard limit. I think i will install limit switches down the road so I can home to zero repeatedly. Y motor drive plate. the gantry is dual-driven on Y to prevent "racking" of the gantry. ie - so it doesn't go crooked. rear of X axis on gantry. overhead view of X axis motor mount on gantry. Z axis motor mount floating head.
