This is a richmond powertrax locker. pn: 92-0435-2705. It is C-clip type. It will fit the following: Commanche - 1986-1992 - with D35 Cherokee - 1990-1993 - with D35 YJ - 1990-1993
According to the fitment guide: www.powertrax.com/jeep1ns.pdfI had it in my YJ D35 until recently, and I'm starting to get tired of breaking axles (up to 3 now). Now I'm ditching the d35 and going to something beefier, so I'll sell the locker to someone it is more suited for. When I put it in, just before last jam, I bought the rebuild kit, and proper solid pin from Richmond Gear, and it performed flawlessly. There is only a slight click as it unlocks when you round a turn, but runs totally silent besides that. This locker is in perfect shape, and ready to install. It also comes with the installation check block for checking your gap, and install manual. You may want to either have smaller tires than me, or be easier on the throttle than me if you go for this. My 33x13.5 Swamper LTB's do not like the d35. Don't let my broken axles deter you, this will give you the traction you need, and allow you to still keep your stock turning radius. Like to get $250 for it. Sold to a jeeper in new minas.

If your TJ is 2002 or older, it will work.

At first thought, I think it should work, as the previous owner to me said he had it in a TJ.
That being said, I'm not so sure. There are different part numbers for a powertrax locker for 90-93, then 94 and up d35's. Some digging on the internet shows that the carriers may has a slightly different bore size for the side gears. It may also have to do with ABS. Mine doesn't have it.
Yea, so I was going to say yes, but I can't. If you can measure your side gear diameter, I can do the same with the locker to be sure. Beyond that, I don't know.

More research yields an answer. Nope it wont fit, and here is why. The 1990-1993.5 d35 YJ rear ends used a carrier bore of 1.625" The 1995-2000ish d35 YJ/TJ rear ends used a carrier bore of 1.560" Why this change was made, I have no idea. Basically to get this locker to work in your TJ, you would need a 90-93 carrier. This can be done, but I doubt you want to. I found out mine was 1.625 for sure when I dug up this old thread with jan welding my gears. (before the locker.) nsjc.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=tech&thread=4853&page=1

2003 and newer are big again, probably the 1.625.

I added all years and models it will fit to the original post. Not alot actually. I am very lucky this worked out for me when I bought it as an unknown d35 locker.
I know there are several YJ's in that year range that need lockers. Buy mine! Rob D
