Make sure it's rust/oil/grease free. Not sure how many coats of each... oh and it looks awesome Tim!

Plasticote makes a nice spray bomb etching primer (others might too). Plate can be hard to get paint to stay stuck to. Pick up a can of their (or Mar-Hyde) satin black to top coat it with. Way better than Tremclad and will look 100% better.
Cost will be about the same too.

Thanks guys. Well its completed other than sanding, prep and painting. Also need to figure out the solenoid mounting. I was told tonight that epoxy primer is the best than top coat with whatever - I will check out the Plasticote - Thanks.

I don't think I have ever seen epoxy primer in spray bombs, but you might be able to get it. It would be the toughest primer, but nothing sticks like self-etching primer. It also bonds both ways, to the steel and the topcoat (or the epoxy primer if you want to use that too), without sanding it.
Plate looks nice.

Thanks Alan for the primer info. I will be looking for either type in spray bomb only.

I put my solenoid behind the pass side headlight. Had to get extended wires... and still haven't make a mounting bracket, but it's on the list! ;D

Picked up some Plasti-Kote primer and satin black enamel at partsfortrucks. The solenoid is mounted to the grill (same as Shadows) That was the first holes drilled into the Rubi - I think my eyes filled up. Two coats primer.

how did you make the slots Tim? Fire Brigade drill press, drilled two holes overlapping by about 1/4 or so, than used a jigsaw and hand file. Two worked out perfect, one not bad and one kinda fu*ked. ;D
