is the truck green with a small aluminum headache rack? thx for the info, that's the kinda stuff i was looking for! "small aluminum headache rack" ?? I'm afraid I have no idea what this is And I'm usually pretty good an figuring out automotive euphemisms ;D The truck has no bars of any kind of it... or racks... it has a cap, and a couple small dents on the rear drivers side... I want your Chrome wheel arch The truck is from BC and is rust free... or was until I had to start driving it... I emptied a can of fluid film on the bare areas (there are a few where the paint has rubbed through) however this summer it is going to need some attention...

... Very odd - not the same rig, this one was from PEI (BC originally) and the cap has been on it a looooong time.

when you go for the cab David the hammer lives about 1 km from the 4 way stop in blockhouse at exit 11,can almost see his house when you cross the overpass look to the right and you see his back yard. I'm about 10 houses to the left from the 4 way stop in blockhouse . ;D

I towed the CJ buggy to Jam on a 2100# U-haul trailer and it did fine. the premium fuel REALLY helped it out. bad knock on regular gas. i have been hearing this is common now that I've been asking around. burned about $100 for drive up/down, and 3 days of running to the trails, 2 of them being 45 minutes from camp. Can't really ask for more than that. It was better on gas than a loaded up Jeep ZJ. It is a little slow on the hills, the big-ass hill up Fox mountain had me in first gear, but on the highway i can maintain 80 up the biggest hills. Most of the time i can cruise at 110. The brakes were fine, stopped well. the trailer had inertia brakes that worked good. rear leafs were totally within their working limits, i had the box full of parts and camping stuff. truck sat level.

Looked good passing me on the highway today!! Looked very comfortable towing. That was the biggest uphill of the drive home when you passed me. But you saw that it cruises great.....we lost you after a while once it flattened out a bit. I would have to say it would suck if it was mountainous around here, but it isn't, so its fine to have to go slow on big hills. How often will i have to put up with it? almost never...

just to update this thread on how the truck has been working out......pretty good! It's my daily driver now. A few tanks of premium fuel has chased out the knock and breakdown under load. It is totally gone during normal driving. ....i haven't towed with it again since Jam tho. All the U-Haul bullsh*t kept me from trailering, so it remains to be seen if the heavy load makes the knock/ping return. I'm optimistic. I bought a scanner/trip computer thingy to chase codes and get some accurate milage #'s. It plugs into the OBDII and gives live readings. On my 60km round trip commute from main street dartmouth to the airport, i can repeatedly get an even 20.0MPG, doing 100-110km/h. Pretty happy with that, since my LJ can't do better than 17.5mpg on the same computer. trailer is almost on the road, so I'll post towing MPG soon. Can I hope for 12?

i'd say youd be right on lookin for12ish, depends on how you fleece it, and how many hills.
my f-150 302/auto/3.55 gears gets 21-22 highway, but usually turns about 12 towing my 3500lbs, travel trailer, and moderatly better with something that has less wind resisitance.
best mileage is usually had about 90 km/h, after that, the wind really becomes a factor
ever find out what you've got for rear end gears??

Not sure how they would work in a GM, but give the Champion Truck plugs a try. Been chasing the notorious Jeep 5.9L ping (doesn't happen with the dodge truck 5.9L so much) for years. Followed the TSBs to the letter, new wires, reg champion plugs, perf computer, intake plenum seal, timing chain... all the stuff that's always recommended to cure the pinging.
The truck plugs were the only thing that permanently fixed it. Even towing uphill in CB, no hint of pinging until I had to throw in some of the non-recommended regular fuel.
They're cheap... worked for me... again, no idea if you'd see similar results in a chev...just tossing it out there.

Just ran it down to Liverpool and back...10.7mpg towing. edit - i had the computer set wrong. I don't know the towing milage yet.
Didn't have any parts or tools, so I was missing about 100lbs of what i would normally carry.
Expected a bit more, but I'll take it.
