The hills on the 103 are killer. If you went to Truro you'd improve that. I'll 2nd that, sure you're coasting down one side, but the going up part is where the real killer is. The wonderful thing about being grossly under powered is you can't chew up the fuel maintaining speed - you drop speed but get fuel mileage (lesson learned driving my 52hp diesel VW around) If, when going up hills, you were able to keep it out of "passing mode" (when the transmission kicks down a gear) you will notice an amazing fuel mileage difference. At least I always did hauling things around with the Minivan....

i just figured out i had the milage computer set wrong. Truck was getting 8mpg driving around town today...wtf? I knew that was wrong, so i went looking to see if i had wrong settings on the tow, and sure enough. My "10.4mpg" will be much better, if it was only getting 8 around town with the bad setting!

I really need to pay attention next time what kind of mileage I am getting.

obd2 scanner/trip computer/black box/milage thing on sale at PA a few weeks ago for $100. Plugs into obd2 port while driving.
input variables like your engine and tank size, and it outputs live #'s to a small monitor. and keeps data to analize or DL to your pc.
pretty neat, MFR had one, i thought it would be useful for clearing codes, but I'm using it more for milage stuff. trained myself to drive to work with 30% better economy just by changing habits. (like not flooring it)

(like not flooring it) I had an old VW which had an instantaneous fuel mileage indicator in it as well (digital - also did average for trips) - its almost fun to try to beat your fuel mileage on trips you make frequently. ;D I have a Genisys ODBII computer... I can map out just about any of the values and save them to a flash card, USB stick, etc... I haven't really used it for anything but reading/clearing codes though. I should look into what the device is really capable of, ask I know it is rather powerful... Anyone off hand know how to figure out mileage with one?

Just ran it down to Liverpool and back ...10.7mpg towing. edit - i had the computer set wrong. I don't know the towing milage yet.Didn't have any parts or tools, so I was missing about 100lbs of what i would normally carry. Expected a bit more, but I'll take it. Thing I noticed Jan, was how straight your set-up went down the highway.I didn't see any swaying at all.Other thing was , you probably would have had an easier time getting up the hills had you been able to wind it up a bit more before the hills.Too much traffic for that though.
