I wish I had more manual skills. i can see all the angles now that it is set up, but man, I would have been scratching my head for days. All the op's on one vice setup too. And the flycutter, heh, I would never have thought to use that, i'd be looking for a 3 insert facing mill. (CNC overkill)

Why mill the spindle and not the hub? If you mill the hub bigger you get the bigger bearing?

Not a great feeling tearing apart a perfectly good working front end but electric lockers are pricey. The spindles on the early-mid 70's chevy and fords take the same bearings, and ford has the 5.5" bolt circle I need and stronger hub setup than Jeep/scout. He is using the same bearing size so it has to have the chevy spindle altered to fit the ford hub/rotor . It's not for bearings.

I understand that, why use the smaller inner bearing when you don't have to. I milled my Ford hubs to accept the larger inner chevy/jeep bearings, instead.

These are '78 hubs, not enough meat in them to bore them out.

He couldn't easily find any of the early chev spindles, these were the later ones I turned down.

Easy button would have been use 80's Dodge everything, they are flat top, standard D44 lock-outs and readily available parts, but I was picky on brake setup and gave in to Internet popularity of the chevy ford mish mash. One thing I discovered was the use of the early chevy spindle would have put the rotor too close to the backing plate, not sure what year I have but with this hub the taller sholder on the spindle was better and suggestions I found on the net of taking a 1/4" off would not have worked. I like the idea of a newer ford hub and boaring it out but I've had enough of parts scrounging, time to just put it together and move on to the next upgrade.
