Looks like the weld didn't penetrate deep enough so that when you ground down the weld you opened up the seam.

I tried doing that once,the fill kept cracking, then ended up grindin off everything and welded the seam then took the grinder to it with a stone disc then hit it with a 80 flap wheel disc, then just used a little filler. never had the cracking come back.

even tho its welded good the vibes will still tend the fill to crack.

I'm afraid your right... The seam was small and I used next to no filler I thought I could get away with it guess not..... Looks like I got a lot of grinding ahead of me to get all that bedliner off! I think I'll use jb weld to fill the seam this time. Attachments:

I would just weld the seam. JB weld will prob crack. Prob cheaper just to weld it to, just use a flap wheel to finish grinding it
