getting ready to put the reduction box back together. Tried to get as many range fork pads in there as I could. This should help the shifter collar stay put. Got the seal surface flat after the welding, and added studs instead of bolts. Since I had the transfer cases apart, I figured I'd make a twin stick. Did zero research - pulled and pushed the shift rails until figuring out what they do. I can't get Front High. Can get Rear Low, and Front Low, plus the usual 2wd/4wd/4low. That's all I need anyway. Didn't want to take apart the D300 because its a factory build and works perfect, just to gain Front Hi. Its mostly useless. started out with this made these shift rail adapters after a few tries, got some levers that work. cut the extra aluminum off, makes it easier to get the reduction box installed. Some wacky shifters. Ready to go back in.

You should patent those twin stick shifters! Looks awesome.

Its nice and compact. some of them have a bunch of linkage, I wanted less parts.

Making sure I got all the leaks, I filled the t-cases and let them hang on the chainfalls for a week while I was on shift. Got a weeping leak thru the first aluminum weld, (Not the Mariner Forge repair, this is original build weld) Clean.... 15 minutes later... Epoxy booger blob. Nothing else I could do, should work fine. The pocket above the epoxy is also leaking a tiny bit, so I will blob that over too. It took a week to make a few drips.

Went to Access today to start the registration process....did not go well. I was expecting to be handed a VIN to attach to the chassis, then have a police officer witness and sign off. Register the VIN, get insurance, get a redplate.
Before I get the VIN - Access wants me to go thru Motor Vehicle Act Reconstructed Vehicle process.
"Application will be forwarded to Motor Vehicle Compliance where you may be required to provide additional mechanical or structural confirmation that the vehicle in question meets all Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, as well as industry structural standards"
She said it 'just' goes to Motor Vehicle Compliance, not for engineering approval (which is utterly hopeless), because its an OHV, not going on the road.
Booooo!

odd... Think you'd get the same result if you went back to another person/another Access?

Booooo! Went through the exact same process to register my kids buggy. The stupid "reconstructed" vehicle form they give you isn't really applicable to a custom built OHV. I had to send 3 pictures in for the inspectors to review then the guy made an appointment to come by and look at the buggy. He was super cool about the whole thing. Agreed they really don't have forms for what we build and most people at access NS are idiots who don't understand how things work. He even filled out the forms for me and signed off on it. I was expecting a big problem when he showed up but he said he knew he was going to approve it just by looking at the pictures! He just stopped by to check it out because he thought it was cool and wanted to take pictures to get ideas for his own buggy and show his friends! If you get the same guy it should be no prob. Just took a while to get the appointment as they were quite busy.

Booooo! Sounds like a knee to the groin. It doesn't make any sense. It can't be a reconstructed vehicle because it never was a vehicle to start with. It should not need to meet the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards as they are for vehicles that travel on the road. This is an OHV, and there is an OHV ACT for that. I think the registration of your buggy would be under the OHV Act, not the MVA. I realize that things may have changed, but how have other people registered a scratch built buggy?
