yeah, I have a list of parts already made up, will be ordering next week hopefully. all new spring bushings are being ordered, along with body mounts, the 8.8 is getting all new hardware, possibly mustang calipers with built-in e-brakes, and some other odds. I'll have photos when the parts come in.

made a bit of progress over the last week or so, most of it was today though. I finally have the frame all plated where I think it should be done. I think after all was said and done, I used a little shy of half of a 4X8 sheet of 1/8" steel on it. this is what it looks like on the inside of both frame rails. covered by 3 1/2" wide plate from the very front of the frame back to the rear leaf spring hangers. the bottom of the frame is plated with 2" wide plate from front to back. I made some progress with the gask tank skid and it's mounting location. it is raised between 5" and 6" I think. practically flush with the bottom of the frame rails in the back. I decided I wanted to try to mount the winch a little lower, not sure why, maybe to help with the COG, but it really isn't heavy enough to make much difference. anyways, this is what I came up with. I cut my existing winch plate down so it would squeeze in between the frame rails, and cut out a section around the steering box. brought plate up the inside of the rails, and over the top with gussets in the bottom. the bottom plate is 3/8" plate, the vertical pieces, gussets, and top where it will bolt in are 1/4". it's a really tight fit in there, the steering box bracket practically touches the winch plate, but they both fit, and that is what counts. then I tore into the YJ, removed the fenders, didn't have to cut a single bolt off to my amazement. the grill came off after draining the radiator, and unhooking rad hoses and front wiring harness. the engine harness was unhooked and piled up on top, and the rest of the electrical was unhooked so the body can be removed. then I unbolted the body mounts, except for 2, they are stubborn, and will pay for their deeds.

also, I forgot to mention. at one point, I got a little distracted, alcohol may have been involved at this point, and I decided that the new front D30 will be trussed. I had one piece of pipe laying around after ripping apart an old oxy-acetylene cart 5 or 6 years ago, so I made a cut for the bend, and cut it to length. only had about 4" extra on it. I have some really good cast rods left over from welding the 8.8 tubes, but will need some more, then it will be ready for its own rebuild.

bahha, funny you mention it. I am keeping the 4-banger for right now, but dad and I were discussing a really nice 304 that we may be picking up with a parts rig that would look reeeeeally nice in there. but it isn't fuel injected, so no dice. for now

despite the rain that started only minutes after I went outside today, I made some progress. the last two body mounts were extracted with some help from a zip disc and grinding wheel. I made sure one last time that all of the wiring was disconnected. the brakes then were disconnected. we started lifting it corner by corner, a couple inches at a time until the frame would roll out. we got to a point where it was so high that it was no longer sturdy at all, and still couldn't squeeze the chassis out from underneath, so I had to pull the valves from each tire and roll the frame out on completely flat tires. here is my wonderful staging for the body. this will be fixed after supper I hope. I'm going to see about borrowing some oil barrels to make something a little more sturdy. here is a little of the cancer. here is more. I count 3 cracks, one of them I already *tried* to weld, but the metal was so thin I just burned holes in it. oh, and heres my rear driveshaft angle. never once had to change a u-joint, don't ask me how! obviously it sits lower with the body on, but only about an inch lower. now, body work is next. that won't be happening right away. I hate body work.

not as good as it looks. previous owner took 16 ga and wrapped it around the whole body, covered the existing body over. door openings are all messed up. I rebuilt the firewall, a few spots in the floor, and a few of the body mounts last summer. new clutch bellcrank and linkage, and a lot of wiring under the hood. fixed up the fenders and a hole in the grille too. we still have to finish putting the AMC20 back together, and get it under with the new rear springs we bought for it, and I'll weld in the spring perches. new driveshaft is in a box in the basement. it's coming, but we still need to get the front end replaced or rebuilt.
didn't get the oil drums tonight. damn rain won't stop, we have had thunder, lightning, and torrential rain for the last 2-3 hours.

been working a lot over the last few weeks, and have a lot of things that need paying off right now. it has been put on the back-burner for the moment, hopefully I'll be able to get some body work done over the next few weeks. no more spending on it for the most-part for a bit though. got a wedding to save for, it's coming up fast!

Update time. I had a chance to do some sand blasting yesterday, and even though I wasn't ready for it, I decided to take the frame down and do it while the opportunity was there. all in all I think I used about 60 KG's of sand, which I don't think is tgoo awful bad. I gave the frame a quick coat of rust paint last night, as the sun was going down, and finished it with the assistance of headlights. this afternoon I got it back inside, and hooked up the spray gun, and gave it a couple of coats after supper. here it is after paint. I found a spot while blasting that I had missed before, so I will actually have to cut out a section and repair it, and then repaint that spot, but I couldn't leave it unpainted, or else it would have rusted up again, and I wasn't about to let that happen. I also acknowledge that I missed a couple of spots, in particular inside the body mounts. they will be hit with a spray can, later
