I have unflared connections from fuel injection hose to steel line, no issues. Try to get the proper clamps for the line, those plumbing type seem to chew it up. I think I got them at NAPA.

I can't see those straps causing any concerns. I think i am using the same style of cheap strap from canadian tire. Here's a tip, check the resistance on your fuel sender before you put the tank up in the empty and full positions so you know your fuel gauge will work... i wish i had of, lol Resstance was good 0 ohm one and 90 ohm the other does this sound correct? I have unflared connections from fuel injection hose to steel line, no issues. Try to get the proper clamps for the line, those plumbing type seem to chew it up. I think I got them at NAPA. I remember you saying this but my mind just cant process that it will hold the pressure with no barb or anything for the clamp to rest against. I'm leery when it comes to fuel. Looking at that braided fuel line and turn on fittings. Secondary question. Did you get an adapter for the TBI fittings on the intake or use the ones on the engine. theyre an O-ring 45 degree thingy......adapters to a -6an are cheep though. Not doing much of a job trying to keep this simple am I?

I just cut the steel tbi lines and put the rubber hose on. I ran a Ford fuel pump for awhile too, over 60 lb pressure.

Will it flare stainless Bill? That stuff doesn't even bend easy.
edit: too late.
I tried to use stainless and had trouble bending it. That's what those are, fuel injection clamps.

Ah... missed the mention of stainless... never tried, but I doubt mine is any better than any other kit.
Still... I wonder if it would do something... even a partial single flare would give me more piece of mind than having nothing.

Yeah I tried last night numerous times, The flare tool just shoved the tubing backwards through the clamp. I might try it in the vise and cobble up a better clamp. What about a propane torch to heat it up, soften the SS a bit before flareing. Taking fire precautions of course as it is used fuel lines......

BUMP! I was working on this Sunday, 1 question raised: Fuel pump we're using is from a later 2.5L YJ (male small oval pug, 3 wires), we're using a 1990 wiring harness (male big 3-prong plug). Anyone have the female version of these so we can adapt to suit? Oh, and for the record, cutting unused wires out of harnesses is fun ;D Wondering if they will work when we actually try to fire it is stressfull

Back from the Dead.
The heep is being worked on, few hours here few hours there. Nothing Pic worthy or Tech based.
Have a question for the 4.3 Swappers.
The Alternator....how the bejesus do we hook it up? to the battery and to the starter, brown wire to the idiot light and make sure its looped back into it self for the internal regulator?
Its a simple thing and I think were over thinking it but wanted to check..
As you were....
Maybe some Pics tomorrow if we get anything note worthy done.

If I remember correctly, the brown wire needs to be switched on the run position. If it's run direct it will drain the battery, I found that out. I didn't hook up an idiot light, not sure about that one.
edit: If the idiot light is reading amps then the brown wire should go through the light and hook to the run pos of the switch.

is it a 3 wire gm alt? i didn't hook up the idiot light on mine. it's simply main power wire to battery or fuse panel, first wire more towards driver side connects to switched in run and the other wire goes to your main junction to sense the voltage for the regulator.

No pics as theres nothing really pic worthy to wiring and other engine related stuff.
Had power going to dash last weekend, now no power..... trying to figure that one out.
Today: Engine Ground, battery ground, Relay for starter, starter wired, Starter functional...once i get the power going to the steering column.
Split 2 chord of wood......had to add that since there wasn't alot of accomplishment.

Been Stupid "Construction Season" Busy for the last couple months.....made a little progress. Not much really but I've been swamped. A little TJ Flare Fuel System plumbed, mid 90's full size fuel filter with threaded ends and adapters.....stoopid cheep at carquest. Clearanced around x-members Finally got the second Iron Cross on.....no comments on working on parts that add nothing to the build functionality

People often ask me: Why is the Heepota such a long-term project? Well, in reply, I will state a few things: -Mo spends alot of time on Pirate -Mo spends waaay too much time on Jalopy Journal -Mo can kill entire days on CNC zone Case in point: Tonight's fab work, which is pretty pimp, I will admit: Yep, BTF would be proud of that battery holder.
