Thanks all. Cant wait to wheel it hopefully next weekend. I'm going to do a week of driving to & from work for a shakedown run before hitting the trails. Blue lettering: I left it there until I'm all done so I don't get the white lettering dirty. lol

Don't weld anything really good, until the cage is completely mocked and tacked. Otherwise, you won't be able to fit nice copes into corners.
don't make dead runs of pipe, all intersections should be 'nodes' for lines of force to travel thru.
Take your time with the copes, fitting the parts together is time consuming, be prepared.

Well its been an exhausting 2 days working on the cage build. I had to sit and think on every move before doing so and I still boo-boobed a bit. Hats off to all of you chaise fabricators out there who does this allot. Well here we go. No turning back now. the tonneu cover is gone. Here is my version of the PA Kinker modifications. I used a piece of exhaust pipe welded to the rollers to prevent dimpling of the pipe. Welded both sided of the shoe for a tight fit for the pipe to prevent kinking and flattening of the pipe. The maximum bend so far was 60* so it worked fine. Setting up for the first bend. Checking the progress. After 2 bends, going good so far. A little tippy . This next bend has 2 angles in 1, 10* to the left and 30* down. 1st side done, fits OK but needed some more bending around the dash area. Cant put it in the bender now so had to think of a way to do the bend. So I decided to use the winch and snatch block to a tree and then to the pipe. Well....... this didn't do anything except pull the Jeep over the wheel blocks and Voila..... F*#@, Into my good Jeep. Side 2 wasn't without its trials and tribulations either. Holy crap it was a chore getting it to mirror the other side. Managed to get it fitting quite tight in there. I wanted a tight fit around the door openings so you don't hit your head getting in, as some of you know the door openings on these XJ's are small enough. I accomplished it quite well and very happy with the results. Right side tacked to the dash to hold it for now. Same on the left The rear on the other hand could of been a tad bit longer but will do, I guess. Right rear Left rear I got a coping program off the Internet, so I printed off a copy of a 90* cope. This is the bomb it worked good. Marked Cut. Checking the fit on a spare piece of pipe. ;D looks good to me. Hard to see but cut and bent in a slight curve 2 cross pieces for the windshield and the B piller roof cross sections. The windshield bar has a hole in the center and mechanic wire fed through holes in pipe to the dash area for power the CB and for speaker wires, which will be fed at a later time after welding is completed. That way there hidden. C piller cross piece. I think I might make it curved as well. Good thing I only tacked it in place. I will also be installing mechanics wire inside this and some other pieces to the rear section for the CB antenna wire to be hidden as well. And that's all I got done for now, only because I ran out of pipe So hopefully Monday night I can get some more so I can finish it. Darren
