Rue or anyone, do you think the ford hp would work in the front? What axle takes more beating the front or rear. I assumed the rear would be a better place for a weaker axle because it is less weight.

The rear might be ligther, but as sone as you start to climb any thing the rear starts to see more weight.I would think that if you were climbing a 40* slope that the rear would be carring most of the weight and then start putting the power to it and POP..LOL
Just my 2 cents.

So what is the pro rock? hp or low? driver side drop or passenger side drop? The rear of the truck might be lite, but the rear axle does most of the work.I think with 46s and a 383 the hp rear will be a ring and pinion eater. Agreed, I'd go with a D80 or 14Bolt

glen glen glen you got it all wrong. i want to build a fun little trail truck and that is what i am doing. Everybody knows jeeps suck on trails. they are good for plowing your driveway and towing trailers around your yard. toyotas and buggies is what all the cool people have. *like So is this Corey's old Yota that had the cage/links built by Rue? If so, that's original Yota axles and krawlers are what I bought to build the Roach ;D ...oh, and the gas tank skidplate.

I priced 14 bolt / 60 axles today from rcv. Building the 14b /60 housings is super cheap. 4800 for 2 sets of axles plus tax, shipping and brackerage. not so cheap. 2 front rockwells 2400 plus shipping from ontario = 2800 all in. So 2 14b/60 hybirds with rcv and brakes is about 10,000. 2 steer rockwells (stock) with steering and brakes is about 6000. If I go 1 of these ways than I can sell the prorock 60 combo.

You can put D70 gears in the D60, you would be limited to 5.13's thou.

i'm pretty sure the Crow's are already circling...just waiting for you to make the decison on which way you go...the axles you don't use..won't sit for very long.
