Well it's time to start a thread on my new project. I picked up a 83 toyota that was 4 linked, coiled, 1 tonned and caged about a year ago. A project that was about half done. I have been picking up parts and pieces over the last 6 months. Some Things I found was A donor truck with a 46" claws on wheels and A chev dand 60. It would be a shame to leave the 14 bolt in there when you could have A steer axle in the rear. Found a 383 chevy SBC for some better get up and go. Some 2.5" king and FOA coilovers To upgrade from the 2" ones that were on it. Yesterday I picked up a cj7 that has lots of good pickins for me including an atlas 4.3 case, 12,000 lb powerplant warn wench and some dynatrac prorock 60 axles with 4.56 gears and detroits with AGR ram assist steering. Now I dont need to spend thousands on the chev 60. So its now getting the pro rock in the front and the ford hp 60 tacken out of the front and placed in the rear. This is about it for now.

Sounds like a fun little project. You better think about doing something different in the rear than a hp 60.I think the way you like to drive with the power and tires that you plan on running that the hp 60 will not last. You would be better off selling the hp 60 and putting a low pinion 60 in the rear.I'd put that chevy front 60 in the rear if I were you.The low pinions are alot stronger in the rear than a hp.

The reason I was putting the hp in the rear was, it already has cromo axles and the chev one has stock. The rear of the truck is very light.

So what is the pro rock? hp or low? driver side drop or passenger side drop?
The rear of the truck might be lite, but the rear axle does most of the work.I think with 46s and a 383 the hp rear will be a ring and pinion eater.

rue a pro rock 60 is a hp housing pass drop. more clearance than a 44. 35 spline inners and outers. the rear is a hp 60. They build the axle to the specs you want, width, gears, locker and axles

You're either gonna hate it because it breaks too much, or you're gonna build it to be too close to your current rig. Shoulda stayed with the original plan. Just my opinion. Proove me wrong Purcell!
