Found a solution to the caliper issue posted above!!
Swapping the backing plates so the caliper is now on the "front" of the axle. that should open up more than enough space to make a new shock mount. May have to run new brake lines or at the bare minimum disconnect, move the lines and re bleed them.

Let the madness ensue! 13 days!
Started with a MML lift last night, pretty simple. Couple of the bolts are hard to get at. My advice, do the drivers side first. The passengers side is cake. I'll move the rad shroud back to it's stock location tonight and start on my belly up/transfer case mount I bought from TMR.
Goal before Jam is:
Flat Belly Outboard rear shocks
Pics of the fun stuff to follow.
Also, I have some play in my clutch fan now from our last muddy run, ok for now? or need replacing?

How does one check for clutch fan issues anyway. That run cost me stained paint, some wrecked lights, and the dirtiest engine bay I have ever had.

I just grab and wiggle, if there's play I am guessing that's bad? I don't know how bad, hoping someone can give some insight. My Jeep started over heating that day for the first time ever, not sure if it was due in part to the mud packed rad or the clutch fan
That was a frustratingly muddy run, I am not a mud guy but it finally pushed me over the edge to go out and buy a gas pressure washer. It took me 2 hours to get the bulk of the mud off/out and it's still muddy underneath! I figure it would have cost me $75 at the spray and pay so the $350 on the pressure washer was money well spent.

NO WAY! screw all the other important stuff first thing i am doing is installing the hooter hollerer. I am currently vehicle'less and at the mercy of Hillary's schedule so I may not get in today to get it, or maybe I'll send her in to get it! hmmmm yes, then she can pay for it and hopefully forget about it. Excellent...

Started on the transmission cross member from TMR. I must say I am impressed, don't get me wrong I realize it's just some tube and tabs but the simplicity is beautiful. The fact that the tube fits into the main tube and you can slide to adjust makes it so much easier! Keep in mind I am not a fabricator and have welded about 3 times in my entire life. Be patient with me and provide some positive criticism, please! Here's my old skid, about 20lbs of mud and 1/4 of a tree. Not to mention (you can't see in the picture) it's bent like a U. Here's the kit I bought, everything you need! Next I started by getting the drive train where it needed to be, which was a task in itself. Once I got that figured out things went together pretty quick (for me) It's really straight forward, not much to explain, slide the tube into the crossmember plate, attach the tabs, tack in place, cut excess off, repeat for other side. no more belly! bolts will be removed (a previous fix) and new holes and nuts welded in place to attach the skid when I am ready. Skid was drawn up by Aaron and John from NN and cut and bent by a local metal place. Pics coming soon

A bit of frustration today, I think it boils down to my newb'ness.
So I got to the point where I began finish welding everything. The cross member that comes in the kit is 3 pieces, 2 smaller diameter tubes and one bigger diameter so they can slide into each other. I finish welded the transmission bracket onto the larger diameter tube and now the god damn tubes take an INSANE amount of effort to slid in. Did I do something wrong? It's almost like the metal shrank/shrunk which i know it does but it didn't return to it's original size when it cooled down.
I tried the freezer trick and I tried the heating trick, but still no luck. I think I may be a little screwed, it seems to be the tighest right where the transmission bracket welds begin. Basically I think I know where I went wrong, I just need confirmation from someone that's made the same mistake before..
On the flip side, I found the casing on my CB cable was broken and the wire corroded, relocated fan shroud and moved my CB antenna to the front of the Jeep. Progress is slow.

Heat from the welding would have deformed the large tube a little. Probably just not quite round anymore. I'm sure with a press and/or bfh you can get the tubes situated in the right places with the bushings oriented right. Press the tube in to right depth then use a big pipe wrench to twist bushing to be right for the tabs.
Think of it as a good news story: Lots of heat from the welding (hopefully) means good penetration.

That looks great! I'm actually going to change my cross member based off this. It'll help me gain some under-belly clearance.

I went for a quick rip to check for vibes. It sounds awesome at idle but not so much once you start driving. I had to turn the jeep off while driving to check for vibes..
booking an appt at Andy's first thing tomorrow.
