just seeing what everyone's option is on this. says a commercial truck is anything over 4500kg single or combined. scales want everything over 3000kgs. do you guys stop and what are your trucks and trailers registered for?
my 02 ram 3500 is registered for 4499kgs thats max for a class 5. yes i stop when flashed in, but i see lots of others drive right by. ive been stopped a few times now by compliance and have learned alot. just seeing what others think. my trailers are registered according to size, 3000kgs to 12500kgs

What did compliance have to say when you were stopped? I've never been flashed in, and only been flashed 'drive by" once....usually it doesn't even register, or I'm in the outter lane!

scales want everything over 3000kgs. Seriously? The H2 weighs 3000kg from the factory - loaded up with me and the gear I used to carry it scaled at 3288kg (7250lbs). I have never been called into the scales on the highway.

first time stopped was a check point, my truck was new to me and only reg for 2600kgs, wieghs 2700kgs empty lol, the trailer was the same, it was a capable off 7000lbs but was only reg for 2500ish, i cant remember exact wieght but the fine was gonna be 3200$$$ for over weight because of the light registration. next was an over width fine but my annual permit was expired, that was my fault. after that was in amherst, being over 160kms from home with out a log book. thats 400$ and 72hr suspension.
the rules have changed a bit and they are really cracking down, i know snowplowers with plows and spreaders on F250 getting shut down for not having a class 3 and proper weight registration. truck plow, sander with sand is well over4500kgs

I can see the gov't pov.....commercial work being done without commercial fees. Lost revenue. i can't say it isn't a fair thing to go after, but sucky for the operators in any case.
Good luck!

What plate u have don't seem to matter if the weight and reg are in order. I've crossed lots of scales and never had a problem with that, I was just intersted if anyone else stops and why or why not they do. If they tell me I need comm plates then I will. The cost is not the issue I'm just want to be legal but can't get 100% answers

The weight laws changes 2 years ago , actually you are supposed to have your license done for the extra weight and heavy trailer and pull into the scales , whether you have a load or not
