Picking up my first Jeep Friday. My dad has always owned one, and lets me drive them. But this will be my first own Jeep. It's a 2013 Wrangler sport S in white. They couldn't find a orange one unfortunately with the stuff I wanted. I was also wondering how do I join the Jeep club in the valley area. I really want to get out on the trails and meet some people.

Welcome to the forum ! If you are itching to immediately hit the trail in your new Jeep, there is a camping/trail event going on THIS WEEKEND up there in the Valley, hosted by Backcountry 4x4 Club. Camping at Vidito's Family Campground and running trails all day Saturday. Check out the details in the "Upcoming Events" section. Registration for it will also be at the campground Saturday Morning, as well as Friday night. Cheers James

Congrats on the new Jeep and welcome to the board.
To become a member, you have to go on three runs (doesn't have to be one of the scheduled runs, just has to be at least 3 club members there), and attend a meeting. The runs can be with any of the 3 chapters too.
Our next run will be August 3rd, but the trail we will be running will be challenging for a stock Jeep (has been done many times though). Might not be where you would want to take your brand new Jeep, but you are welcome to come along!
Coffee nights are on Wednesdays, usually in Greenwood. Everyone has been busy lately, but keep an eye on the thread here, it's a good way to meet some of the members.
Feel free to post up in the Valley section or in Trail Rides (pm Creepy for the password) to see if you can get a run planned, there are lots of great easy trails in the valley to get you started.
The Halifax chapter will be hosting Weekend of Wheeling in the Valley on August 24th, and the Black Rock trail is a great trail for a stock Jeep.
Hope to see you out soon!

I don't know if I will be able to Saturday. And I would rather start on a easier trail. Never did a lot of trail riding with anything bigger then a ATV. Wednesday nights would be hard. I tend to work late, but never know.

Just found out today, that they are unable to get the white Jeep I wanted. So I decided to get them to find a orange crush one. Since that was my first choice in the beginning.

Congrats on the new jeep, Keep an eye on the trail rides section for up and coming runs once I get my front driveshaft issue sorted out I will most likely be out quit a bit and I'm sure we can get a few people out with us. If I get out anytime soon I'll send you a PM and we can run some of the easier stuff. PM creepy for a passwrod for the trail rides section and also keep your eye open for a Jeep 101 and come see what your jeep is capable of and how to be safe on the trail.

Would love to go to the Jeep 101. Only ever did light trails in my old Dodge, but it was also an automatic. I imagine even though I am quite good with a manual, trail riding with one will be hard for a bit. I already pm'ed him for it awhile ago. Will have to try again.

Trails with a manual aren't really to much harder to deal with if your use to driving a stick anyway. Just remember to use your e brake to help you out instead of trying to juggle the clutch and break to stop roll back. Low range first gear is pretty decent in the jk's even with the 3.21 gears so it shouldn't be to bad. I'm thinking about a little run this saturday if a friend is able to come out so I'll let you know if we decide to go and I'll post it up as well. Creepy is pretty busy and I'm sure he gets quit a few pm's he might have just missed it or hasn't had time to respond.

Weekend of Wheelin' III on Saturday. Meet at the Kingston Superstore at 10:00am. The BlackRock Trail is an excellent trail and a lot of fun. Even if you've never wheeled before, you'll have a great time. Pack a lunch and some trail beverages because the spot for lunch is very picturesque.

I'm so torn lol. The Dartmouth Dodge car show is this Saturday too. How is that trail in a stock JK?
