I just priced one here at scotia chrysler, and needless to say I'll be getting a better metal one made, or stealing the one of my parts jeep. Price for that tiny peice of aluminium? $347! Bu anyways i got all new bolts, washers, and lock washers Hopefully this will remedy my problem. Steven asured me the spacer he made is the same width. so I'll run that for now until I can either order a JCR spacer or something else.

Thats an unrealistic price. Your rig looks good, so hopefully you can get it fixed and back out there.

Yea, i couldent belive the price. So anyways i tryed just getting new bolts and wouldent you know the box its self is stripped, not the bolt. so, I've decided to wait until my buddy kevin gets home. He probually has a spacer and box sitting around somewhere, I'll tade him my box and give him a few bucks then I can be merrily on my way. I dont wanna deal with re-tapping the hole, stripping jeeps, etc in the freezing cold if i dont exactly have to. Also that pic you requested jan of the bumper actually on the jeep. Still have yet to trim the fenders.

from the sounds of it, your buddy Steven might not be the best person to rely on for help. Hopefully you get your new-to-you box and everything works for you.

Have to agree with that, driving a vehicle without all the bolts in the steering box is a very bad idea. The other ears can easily break off. Even worse with the bolts there being on the short side! Jeep looks good though!

well, i got my new-to-me steering box just now and made sure all the bolts run through fine. Kevin told me i should be fine with my home-made spacer so tomorrow morning I'll get cracking at er cause i hate driving my ranger lol. I'm also gunna swap all the brand new steering componets from my tan jeep onto it tomorrow if i can and take it to get aligned.

iirc, two of the spacers are 3/4", and one is 1/2". Bumper looks good, I hadn't seen that one mounted. Thx

Well I'll be getting another spacer made because the one i have is was off. so no wonder the upper bolt wouldn't go in. But i finally got the steering box off and i decided that it was a good idea to change it because i was getting a bit of play, even though my front end is all nice and tight. So It'll go on the shelf as a spare incase something back happens. And the new box And then the big empty space where the box should be. So heres hoping everything goes good tomorrow! today was pretty bad lol, speeding ticket, steering box fell on my face, got bit by a pitbull,..... ugh.

I gave up on flat-backing after I worked for 2 years in a shop with a heated floor. The only time I will work outdoors on a vehicle is to change the oil if I can't get it inside.
I had a funny feeling that spacer wasn't going to work for you, your buddy's mechanic skills didn't leave me with high expectations for his fabrication skills. Sorry to be so blunt.
Are your plans to buy another spacer, or try to make one again?

Well, I'll try making one again,I'll be getting my neighbor who is a bit more experienced around this stuff, since he's been a mechanic now for about 30 years, and has built numerous awsome things lol, stock cars, mud trucks, drag cars, etc.
And this time i actually have the steering box completely off so its kinda of a "You cant screw this up at all" deal. though I hope the rain lets up! its raining cats, dogs, hampsters, gerbils, and horses here. [aka ton o' rain.] I'll sacrifice getting drenched to get my jeep back up and running again.
