after debating on buying a set for a year, I finally bought a set over the weekend. $50 each, cant go wrong for off-road use only....they are pretty rough but with over 80 tires to choose from, I found sum im happy with. mine measure 37x12.5 installed on 8" wide rims. joyel army surplus is located in Aylesford NS for anyone looking for off-road only. they want $60 each but I offered $50 cash.

im going by memory but they have skinny's like 9x16....something like that....I think that means 36" tall... I went to buy those but they only have 10 or 12 to choose from and there's no much there for tread on them and looked like my 8" wide rims would be too wide.

The smaller size is 9R16, they measure out to 36" tall. Go Dana30!!! Yer fawked! also - I got a kick out of the D35 sitting behind the tire pic. Its screaming NOOOOOOOOooooooo! Don't hit the lightbulb pulling out of the shop.

First time out probably....just like the "40's on a D30" guy. Plus these tires are probably like 150lbs with rim. Heavier than your average MT.

It's nice to figure out stuff on your own... but there is also wisdom in following the prior lessons of others. Those tire in particular, are among the heaviest you will find in that size. They don't flex, so you will be trying to bump over objects. The D30 WILL break. Everything about the D30 is far too small for these tires. If your goal is to make the Jamboree then you intend on wheeling it. If you go on an easy trail, the tires are way bigger than you need.... and will likely break. You will be "that guy" with the seemingly built Jeep busted to the side, while grocery getters squeeze past you. If you go on a trail that requires this size of tire, you'll be lucky to get past the first obstacle without becoming a road block. Bill

Ive seen the 36" run on a dana 30 with a locker, and unless he mashed on it the axles were fine. However after a couple months on the road everything was beat out of it. This was 97Cherokee on the board here. His tires are now on a TJ with a D30 front. Doesnt mean its a good idea, just have seen it done with minimal breakage.
