Started by stripping the fender flair, gas filler, licence plate holder and tail light. Then I made a template Then marked and cut 'er up! Got some 3/16th and transfered the pattern A jigsaw can cut 3/16th, but it's a mayjor PITA As you can see I have so much room in my garage, I had to suffle her over to get to the other side. Same deal, fender flair, tail light, evap crap my 6.0 doesn't use anyway. After Bending the corners on an old tub We would get them to half the curve then clamp them on the corner to keep it from lifting, then used the bar clamp to pull it the rest of the way. Sorry they're just crappy cell pics. One has an inch of spring back on the short side and the other about 1/4". Not too bad.

That's looking sweet Glen. I know what you mean by moving stuff around when working in a small garage. Aaron

YEAH MAN, hack that Rubi! I rememeber when I wasn't allowed to drill a hole in the tub. lol Looks good so far, I don't envy the jigsaw job. Must have taken awhile. It looks like a good cut in the pics tho.

yikes! how much you stretching? you have a new gas tank, or are you lifting yours? whatcha gonna do for flares?
I might have to use that idea for bending my corners, I'll just have to take a rear corner section from a junk tub to work with me... lol. I'm glad mine are only 1/8" though.
edit, never mind, I re-read the title, pipe fenders. what size pipe you using for them? how much flare?

Yeah cutting with the jigsaw kinda sucked. I'd go 6" and work on something else for a couple min, then go back at it. What can ya do? I just try to do as much with what I got.
I'm making the flares to match the TNT front fenders I already got. I'm hoping to find 5X1/8" flat bar and with the 1" pipe I'm using it'll give me 6" of coverage. If it's not enough, I'll put a plastic lip on for another one or two inches like I did the front. The thought is that if I buggy the Jeep later, I'll just lob them off. LOL
The gas tank that's in it is a custom piece that was made with stretch in mind. I'll go as far as it'll allow me, which is 5-6" I think.
PS; the radius used was my Christmas tree stand. ;D

That looks awesome. Cuts look great. I understand the jigsaw work, I used it to cut 3/16" out for some curvy bits on mine. I've been having better success with a recip saw held under the piece with the blade sticking up through to follow the line more easily. Need lots of good clamping to kill the vibration though or it's a nightmare.
I'm looking forward to seeing the fenders.

how big is your shop glen? 15X20 The Jeep's literally wedged in the corner.... touching the big door and that shitty little Mastercraft workbench that's waiting for spring to migrate into the shed. I have to climb over the Jeep to get to the man door. I've got about 4' beside and behind to work. LOL When I designed the house I intended to build the detatched at the same time, but as costs increased the garage was the 1st thing to get cut. I got a decent sized shed knowing the attatched would be my workshop, but didn't think to make it slightly bigger. So after a week soaking the gate hinge bolts with penetrating oil, tapping on them to try to "break them loose" and two T40s, I got them off. There was of course, and thick film of corrosion between the tub and them... so I scraped the crud off, gave it some 80 grit and gave 'er the primer The hinges had looked bad for a while... I priced stainless ones... but wasn't worth the cost. Normally I would have brought these to work and blasted them in the cabinet... but that shop's going through a major revamp, so I just hit them with the wire wheel. I also got some spacers for the gate end of the hinges and the lower nut thingy (it was exposed to the elements) ready for paint. Primer Disregard the numbers, but this was some of the head scratching I did figuring out what the pipe's gonna look like where it meets the tub Driver's side I couldn't get all three bends on the same piece because it wouldn't fit in the bender, so I've got a 90 that I'll splice in later. 1st bend on the pass side Setting up for the 2nd bend
