I'm at the end of the line with this Carter pile of junk BBD carb i have on my 1988 Wrangler and planning on a motorcraft 2100/2150 replacement kit. This is a complete replacement package, removal of the old stock carb and it's associated emissions control nightmare, install and set up of new carb including a new emissions control system that will pass possible future tail pipe testing. Question-- is this package available locally ? Tnx.--

Thought i'd expand a little on the above post-- The replacement package i mentioned above is available Stateside--however i'd prefer to support local suppliers if possible . Has anyone used the motorcraft 2100/2150 carb. as a replacement. From lurker info gathered on the U.S. jeep forums it seems this is now becoming the carb. of choice over the Webber both for price and ease of install and setting up. The added bonus of a custom emissions package seems a winner as it seems only a matter of time before the wanky politicions jump on the political bandwagon of tail pipe emissions testing as they have done in Ontario. Any and all input greatly appreciated before i take this plunge---Tnx---Geo.

Thanks for the reply--Visited Trick Engines yesterday, no luck . I was leaning toward Webber but from past mechanical experience(sports cars) I have always considered it a finnikey carb to set up and maintain. The Ford 2100/2150 on the other hand has a good rep. Strange AMC used the 2150 on their V8 but didn't use the 2100 on the 6's. Ok--I will hang on for awhile before ordering from the U.S. possibly someone here has used the 2100/2150 in their changeout and can give me some feedback on their experience--Thanks again for the reply ---

Well did the Dunbrack and Lower waterstreet cruise last night and made a decision for better or worst to give the motorcraft replacement kit a go. The supplier phoned me today for details like -- height from sea level--custom breather--electric or manual choke option --and confirmed once more that the mod. will comply with tail pipe emission testing even if i move to California. He (they)? custom build the carb for each customers requirement including 60 plus pages of install instructions and a phone number if problems pop up. Being the new kid on the block I don't want to step on anyones toes here so if not informed to do otherwise i will post the entire conversion including photos. (open to comments on this, to do or not to do) On another subject--tried to edit my last post as i made a small technical quote error -- hit "modify" and did my edit but couldn't find a re post button. Help !!! --- Tnx.

You are welcome to post up any and all info good/bad on your swap. we love pics. No local suppliers will give you that much experience with passing emmissions. might as well go with the pro's.

According to the supplier the 2150 motorcraft conversion kit has been shipped today. I also plan on replacing the exaust and intake manifold gaskets. Testing the intake with propane showed a possible very small intake leak so why not do the proper job while the old carb is off and it's all easier to get at. In any case not a bad idea in any carb conversion especially if there is some suspect of any intake gasket problems. While I'm on post being the new kid on the block i must apologise for not introducing myself but this was sort of an quick purchase decision and i wanted to check out forum input before proceeding. Question ? Mr. administrator "Creepy"is there a proper catagory where i might do this -- Tnx. Geo.

I had the carter and hammered the s#$t out of it on the floor with a BFH , then put a 2100 in and did the nutter bypass and manual choke, all is well in the Jeep world.

Ahhh --bhamm --that is music to my ears -- my engine idles like it is equipped with a full race cam with this stock carter --that is when it decides to idle. When i smash my carter with a 15 pound sledge i'll be sure to take photos ---Tnx.. Geo.

I've been thinking about getting the Motorcraft carb...how much did it end up costing? $250ish?
On a side note I think I found a used one that was just refurbed for cheap, and local.

I purchased this custom replacement package from a retailer on E Bay. So far it's cost me $330 for the new carb ($295 for the carb plus $35 shipping.)-- custom set up for the 6 cyl. Jeep. Extras I have ordered, a custom breather set up plus an an electric and a manual choke, cost of $50. In addition to these costs there will be the .15 % GST plus possibly a duty cost which is not suppose to apply to automotive parts ( free trade deal) but seems to be applied in 75% of my orders. Why not on all the orders or why it is applied at all I don't know. A new recent charge has shown up on my recent Quadrateck orders is their shipping company is now applying a $10 per package handling fee Logic would say that you must handle the package to ship it --and since shipping has been already included at Quadrateck, why the additional charge. Just another rip off. Extra charges is a big guessing game and one never knows until the shipper walks in the door with the package. I have not been back into Jeeps long enough to track down the local and Canadian suppliers and to date time constraints for replacement parts dictates i didn't have the option of shopping around. I'm gatering info as I go. Having said that the service from Quadrateck has been excellent.---Geo

Well my carb replacement package arrived today, surprise, surprise, no additional charges. Also pages of instructions and photos have appeared on my e mail. Excellent service and a very professional backup with the instructions including his personal at home phone number, available 7 days a week. A few more parts ( exaust and intake manifold gaskets)and i'll be ready to install . I will post the installation with photos when I get at it.
