Big day in the shop. Had a buddy down for the day, while I prepped sills and the box sides he welded in the holes from spot welds and carried on with the welding chores. Got the frame work and sills all straighened up. Back at it again tonight. Which forced this It's Shine O'Clock Is that the wagon you will be taking across canada in 2011? Looks like you should be more worried about the fenders falling off instead of the the wheels. ;D They look kind of loose. J/K Should be an awesome trip in that rig. I did it in 2004 on a motorcycle, but I am sure the Willys would be more comfortable. What is its comfortable cruising speed, and top speed? Wayne

Time will tell on cruising speeds. I bought it after a test drive through a feild at about 70mph with no brakes It will depend on what tire size I go with. The motor won't have a problem. 375 hp 327 from a 64 vette.

Back at the box again. Cut out sections of the Dodge box that had a 5th wheel mounted to it, and replacement sections cut out. Added two extra x members as the Dodge floor is only half the thickness of the Willys floor and there was a 28" spacing with no supports I have to get this thing finished up as quickly as I can, there is a rumor Santa is bring me a ARB locker and compressor for the wagon this year ;D

Sexy engine!
I had one of those air filters on my Jeep when I first put the 4.3 in. I think it was Andre (APJ) that told me about backfires lighting the foam on fire. Don't let it backfire!

It is there for break in of the engine and street use. I'd like to find a snorkle kit that I could adapt to fit it. The roads up north are fairly dusty.

it certainly does look like a box! very nice work. I admire your attention to detail, and making everything look smooth and flat. from the pictures, it's hard to even tell there has been new metal welded in. I can't wait to see it painted and back on the frame.

I cut out the rot, and prep the replacement pieces, he makes it look like new. You don't need much fill when you do it like this A little high build primer and you're good to go. It takes more time but you don't have to worry about the fill cracking later when you flex a part to much.

I have always wanted one of these trucks, so I am semi-living the dream through you. it's always nice to have someone who can weld that good. wish I could do that with sheet metal
