Axle will come out with a lock ring. We had a Scout that liked to eat one wheel bearing, axle would come with very little warning.
I'd assume if they deleted the lock ring, they made the bearing a tighter fit. One of Jeff's 44 bearing lock rings cracked when I pressed it on. I made a new one because the bearing wasn't that hard to press on.

Me and Scott slammed a T18a into this puppy last night. Got lucky, its the exact same length. gotta readjust the skid mount holes, but pretty minor compared to requiring driveshafts, etc, etc.
Working on master/slave this morning.

had to remove clutch pedal, drill hole, and weld in a bolt for the clutch master. took an hour to get snapring off end of pedal hanger. Seems like its matched well to the stroke.
working on slave after lunch.
oh yeah, got the front end toghether the other night too, with steering box mount and new leaf hangers and shackles.

I can't wait to drive it. Thanks so much guys for all the hard work. It looks like me and Melissa won't be making the Jam this year, as we have no one to look after our business as of all other family is out of the country. Have fun wish we could go.

When I got home from the Jam, the brakes sucked again! Arrg! but then I found it was just a bad rear wheel cylinder, so I threw one of those on this afternoon before work. Brakes are great again.
On Thursday past- sleeved the draglink, and made a funky steer stabilizer mount using diff cover bolts, and mounted a new steering stabilizer from a JK.
Just the front bumper left now.

I guess you got the steering figured out without going to high steer then. Vice is still set up on the mill if you want those knuckles drilled. When you get this CJ done, you should cut me out all the panels to build a CJ5 tub. ;D

thx Alan, but i decided I'm not going to do any work like that to the D30. Waste of money and time to do the knuckle swapping and still only have little axle joints. and then the T18 had to go in, so I didn't go balls out on the steering.
The draglink still goes under the leaf and had potenial to hit when flexed out. The rig is stiff and has a swaybar. On road it always has 2" clearance. i beefed up the draglink and moved the steering box location down some with a custom bracket. It has pretty good geometery, and should drive nice.
i'm slackin on the pics.......will get some up soon showing the brake and clutch swap, etc.

Brake parts, clutch slave master move clutch pedal hole, forward and down. the welded on part was in use. This setup uses the lowest hole. I think its a CJ pedal. clutch master, nice and small, not like the thing I took off. Couldn't fit a brake booster. Now offering Heavy-Duty Repair! made a longer rod, and mounted it in the lower set of holes. mocking up the brakes. 94 YJ booster and master and firewall bracket. had to change the rod length, just by 3/8". little spacer there on the vice. tack it together, goes thru a 3" hole, so it doesn't matter that its fat and ugly. Working on the lines now, Whipper loaned me a brake kit with double flare, and this nice bender. It was fun to make the lines all nice and tidy. thx Bill! XJ prop valve. And it leans forward easily to adjust that friggin rod. You don't have to open any lines. Phord truck shock bolt, I do believe? Works good to hold a steering stabilizer too.

Front bumper and 8274 mount - Bernie gave me free license to build whatever, so this is what I came up with.... all cleaned off to start. Rahrrrgg! RaHHRRGG! Looks like a mean troll. As a tribute to all the trolls the wheel bearing failure will attract. Fits wicked! really nice to work off a square surface for the rest. Couldn't resist giving it some teeth grill hoop with 4 bends, and upright 8274 mount another bar in front to tie it in That should be pretty stout, and its not too heavy. big 1/4" washers to shim up the top steering box holes, other side is there, so I used them too. crossmember is tied in, as well as frame rails. There are like 14 bolts. in primer raining, of course. bumper is done, and ditched the snorkel. It looks so much better without it, I think. Had a bit of body work to do under the snorkel. A big sticker is about it for me and bodywork. ;D Made this for the ARB hole.
