New Jeep Cherokee unveil tomorrow! Just thought I'd throw this up, anyone else pretty stoked to see what it's going to look like, capabilities and so on? Edit : I know there's several pics out there floating around, and a few tidbits of info, but I really want to see its return

No, not stoked. Disappointed, yes. Its a European small SUV trying to capitalize on the success of a near legendary XJ design. It has absolutely nothing in common with the original, besides stealing the name to create hype and an association with something that was once good, to sell something that sucks. They should have re-powered the XJ and kept making it. Its still better than all other (lower cost) SUV's on the road, c'ept a ZJ. The Grand Cherokee's have stuck to their basic design principals. Luxury in a mildly -offroadable package, with motor options. No one gets pissed at new Grands. They are accepted into the Jeep fold, simply as modern. I don't know about you, but I'll never accept a re branded design from another company as a Jeep. Unless you count Willys. Rant over, somebody post some squinty eye pics so we can make more fun.

Very disappointing., even more so when you put the new one with the real Cherokees, even in pics

In another thread where this info was posted someone (I think it was Enos) said that this "Cherokee" was most likely the new Liberty here in North America as they are called "Cherokee" in Europe. I am kinda hoping that this is the case because that vehicle looks more like a Compass or a baby Grand, and not the piano type, lol.

I like it. The grill has styling cues from the FSJ. Great Liberty. Needs a SRT8 version.

It looks like it will be badged Cherokee in North America since they are announcing it in New York (I believe). The Liberty name was never used in Europe, they were Cherokees there. Just another generic road CUV that doesn't deserve the name they are putting on it.

I say we wait for 'em to go to rental companies, rent one, and take it out to Crazy French to see what it's really made of. ;D

We may not like them using the name Cherokee on it, but I bet it will have big sales, and that is a good thing for Jeep overall.
Other than the headlights, I thinks it looks good, better than many in that segment.

Doesn't look bad for what it is, but it looks way too luxury to be a Cherokee. In saying that, for a dd not going down to offroad, I'd buy it I think.
They should put in a real tranny and tcase in the Compass, and sfa, make that a bit more true off roader
Edit : Think that the pics are bad? Their official offroad video from Jeep is just as bad. Nicely groomed road then over some nice flat rocks...

Don't like the look of the new compass? Exact same vehicles. But yeah, Patriot is more of a Jeep

but it looks way too luxury to be a Cherokee Hey now, my 94 XJ had cruise, tilt, auto, PW, remote entry, PDL, AC and leather power seats (ok, I added those, but they came from another, older Cherokee)!
