well...after a ton of cutting, grinding, and the occasional burning of skin as i forgot that parts were hot...i do believe these are ready for some welding then in for a nice "secret" powder coat color and ready to do some flexing...and just in case anyone is wondering....nahh....wont tell ya brand of joints just yet lol also, yes..i realize the ends stick out further on one and not the other.. it's been fixed, but they also haven't been welded yet lol

What did you do for inserts? equally interested, I currently have 1" u-bolt nuts that will be ground to fit, but am always open to improved ideas.

i used 1 1/4" u-bolt nuts that would come on a freightliner...then hit them with a load of grinding lol....
on great news, i got them all welded up solid tonight after work, now it's just a matter of smoothing down the welds to make them look even more perfect then they are lol

That works! Some u-bolt nuts are 'double tall' (I just made that up) so they have more thread engagement. Like a coupler nut for readyrod.

yeah, I was hoping to get some of the long u-bolt nuts, but they didn't have any of them. mine are like 1.25" or better long, which I *think* aught to be lots anyways.

Rule for thread engagement is for it to be at least equal to the diameter, so anything over 1" on a 1" bolt is good. Any of the u-bolt nuts I have gotten at Fleetline in Digby have been longer than standard nuts. They have as much thread as the QA1 inserts I bought for the ZJ arms.

kool, good to know that Alan. just checked specs on the u-bolt nuts, they are 1 5/16" long, so I was close on my guess.

well...freshly put together....but not on the jeep yet please ignore the finger prints...that grease that comes with them is nasty to wipe clean lol.... got the other one to try and put together....just need a bigger set of snap ring pliers, first one was good, the second one is being much more of a pain lol
