I have a 2000 TJ in need of some frame repairs. I'm also doing long arms and some other upgrades at the same time. I recently picked up a 2000 Toyota Echo that needed some TLC and is now my DD, so I'm not in any rush to finish the Jeep (and hey, Jam is 6 months away...). Current Jeep status: 4" Rough Country lift, 1 1/4" body lift, 1" motor mount lift. Some skid plating. 32" BFG MTs. Here's the closest I have to a "before" shot.

The plan is to fix up the frame and swap in a D44/9" combo with long arms at the same time. A few weeks ago a couple friends came over and helped me take the body off. A few broken bolts and some of the body mounts broke free in the body but no real major issues. Jonathan

I have the Jeep segregated into one corner of our barn. Good reason to add some new overhead lights. I put in four 48" double fluorescents. Ballasts are rated for -18C so hopefully it will work okay all winter. No heat in the barn. I got everything stripped from the transfer case back. I have some photos on my phone but don't seem to have the right cable to put them on the computer...

We pulled the tub with a couple come-alongs and slings around the cage. Used the tractor to maneuver the rolling frame into it's current work space.
Plan is to plate the frame sides and bottom from around the middle body mount almost to the rear coil spring mounts. Will be a mix of 1/8" and 3/16" (factory thickness is 0.15 iirc). Should get at it this weekend and have some more pics.
Jonathan
edit: added factory thickness, typo in original post

I have to admit that looked tempting... but it likely has the same weak spots and I'd have to move the motor mounts. I'd rather put the time and effort into repairs so I know exactly what I have when I'm done. Today I spent a long time grinding the frame and also got the first pieces cut for repairs on the drivers side. Hopefully I'll get them welded up tomorrow and take some more pics. Jonathan
