The antenna mount was doing the same thing the tub rails were....rusting to shit and leaving poodle eyes. Len, of all people, came up with a solution all by himself when I made him one, so I copied his idea, but went with high density plastic instead of aluminum. Machined these spacers on the Southbend. They stand the mount out 3/8" off the tailgate. Started at the rock rails. Wires brushed and sanded them on the rig, they are welded on. rockerguarded the frame and underside of the skids, and painted the tops. wire cupped the tub rails too. How can I make that not happen again? I can't afford powercoating this month, so I just painted them. Expanded on the plastic backer idea, and then thought of this 3/16" plastic sheet I had laying around. MFR SureShot Dispensing item, iirc. Thx! start ripping it up, carbide tip sawblade in backwards. edit - that's not backwards. Well, it works forwards, I'll have to try it backwards. ;D just enough usable material making it fit the tubrails fitted, ready to mount.

You were correct the first time, blade is on backwards. A coarse blade like that installed the right way would throw that plastic all over the place.
Jeep looks good.

Ice hole in #7 trail, you in front, me ramming ice behind. Just before the wrecked ZJ.
Big6 has one for me.
Thx for comments guys.
ps: I never see a need to cut steel with a circular saw, have lots of other options. I use it for plastic.

Really nice freshen-up. Lot of crappy elbow-grease work removing rusties. Well done.

The black and white really pops when its clean. A lot of people don't like white vehicles, but I like it on my Jeep. Not many around either. I've never seen another white LJ.

I always hated white cause it shows rust stains sooo bad, course I drive junk though lol . Radius the edges of the plastic to keep it from chaffing the paint :-)

This is about the 5th time I've needed a router for Jeep work. hah. I'll have to get one.
I deburred with one of those machinist's tools that look like a screwdriver with a little swiveling hook. About a .020 rad all the way around. (and the rails don't move anyway)

Got the tub rails on there's the plastic backer painted front bumper. It wasn't bad like the other stuff. fast flash LED fix. EP26 flasher. It worked, but the signals can be turned on while the ignition is off. If you leave the blinker on, you could drain the battery. Price was for two, I bought a spare. The '04 has the flasher on top of the steer col. Pretty easy to install. removed inner fender liner to get flare off. The inserts actually didn't spin. cleaned up behind there and hosed it down with Crown. free flare from Big6 - tanks b'y. Squirted silicon spray on it to try to bring back some black. OOoo, AAhhh. A stock flare. This was a serious project for me, with tons of internet research. I was nervous at first, but struggled thru it, and gained some valuable experience on mechanical repairs. ;D Playing with tops today. Wish the rain would frig off so I can work on the car trailer.

Glad the flare worked out for ya....I forgot I had them until I was mowing the lawn the other day and noticed it half stuck in the ground underneath the front step. I'm glad those seeds I planted 5 years ago took, I was able to grow 2 flares!
