www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/dartmouth/1985-jeep-cj7-4x4-6-cylinder-with-meyer-plow/1016746966This is a project truck. See pics. I will add pics of the snowplow soon. Here is the good and the bad:
Truck is registered and will come with a transfer of registration.
6' Meyer plow is in very good condition and has joystick control in cab for power raise and power angle. Mounts, hydraulics and the overall plow is complete and good.
Original 6 cylinder engine is in good condition, starts and runs no issues. Has new fuel pump and starter, everything else pretty much original.
Good tires all around, including spare. Also have summer tires.
About 3 years, many of the body panels were redone. It was not a pretty job, but made the body solid at the time.
Hard top is good. 1 little section on the edge has chipped away but still covers the overlap of the truck.
Here are the issues:
Transmission has issues with reverse. Forward is OK but no reverse.
Gas lines from tank to fuel pump are bad. Truck will start and run no problem off a jury can of gas.
Underside of the truck needs work. Truck sat in garage for 2 years due to transmission which has not helped.
I do not have time or the tools to restore truck.
Asking $1,200.00. This is a fair price for the plow, tires and engine and the rest of the truck comes with it.
Please contact me for more info.
Please know this truck needs work, hence the price.
If the ad is up, its for sale. If I don't respond to you right away it is because I will contact people back in the order I get responses.
Low ball offers will not be acknowledged. Sorry, I am not interested in trading for anything. Just home here grabbing my trailer. Will update later!
Its a perfect plow rig for my yard, and matches the house.
Weirdo drive-train - column shift TF904 or TF727, and a D300!

ya, just a bit rare is all I meant. I dig it, the auto was the deciding factor. Can plow control one hand. shift/steer with other.

It's probably a 904 (or 999 or 9 something) behind a 6. I have a couple out of Eagles. Not sure how good they are, but would at least be good for parts to fix this one.
This Jeep would have been a good donor for my CJ5 drivetrain!

I'll keep that in mind. edit - it should be a TF999 in the CJ7. The Eagles would have TF998, and should swap. I filled the trans and tried it again, it goes into reverse, but won't pull the rig. I'm going to read up on tighening the bands. But its probably fubar. Didn't have time to swap pics to my laptop, but I got the CJ7 home in the yard, and got the plow home too. they were in two different spots. just up the road actually, Montague Rd, close to Main. Jeep was at CVO.

It's a Fisher plow, not Meyers. Had a hard time trying to look it up at first, I was going by the rubber flap. It has a 4.2, TF999, and a D300. The TF999 has a very good rep. and isn't a shitty trans...but this one has no reverse. I've been reading up on fixing it, and might attempt my own auto rebuild. Black Magic! The low/reverse band is probably way out of a adjustment...but that being said, 1st gear should be slipping too, and it isn't. (first and reverse use the same drum/bands) So don't really know what's wrong. Could be a sticky valve body. In either case, the trans pan will have to be dropped. It runs and drives and charges (new alternator, fuel pump) and has brakes. Rad is missing a bunch of fins, but isn't leaking. Don't really need to do anything to plow but get reverse working....oh, and fuel lines to the gas tank. I'm running it on a bottle of gas in engine bay. Might just fuel cell it. Its completely stock, no aftermarket parts besides Canadian Tire stick-on stuff. It has brand new 31x10.5 rubber with lots of siping, perfect plow tires. 2 sets of rims, the solid wheel and trim rings that's on it, and some classic spoked steelies w trim rings. Those came with 2 nice big fat 275/60/15 street car tires.

Like an actual dealer service manual, or just a Hanyes type book? I have the Haynes CJ book.
Ripped out a bunch of extra under-dash wiring, switches, tape deck, and speakers and lights. Its pretty much back to stock. The headlights are wired properly off the stock switch. The plow lights come on, or there is a hidden switch to choose the stock headlights. That was pretty neat, didn't have to modify it.
Just picking a little till my next set of shifts off.

Yup it is the dealer service manual.... There might be some differences between 81 and 85, but it references the numbers you listed. It also has cool flow charts. Tons of cool bits of info on everything .

Yeah man, I'll borrow that for a bit. Where do you live? (edit - oh yeah, you were at the Mines Rd cleanup - I can take a rip out that way anytime this week, I'm done my shifts in the morning. Busy Sat tho.)
